We were notified by our landlord that the building is being sold, and the new owner wants us out immediately. “After an amazing 8 years, we will close the doors of our downtown location [1001 16th St, NW] on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018. But don’t sweat (at least not until you’re taking a MINT Box class), we have two awesome locations, MINT Dupont and MINT Manhattan Laundry. While the building’s owner decided to lease the space to a corporate chain, we’re thankful for all the memories we’ve shared at this location. That being said, we will continue to be your neighborhood gym providing more class, and less drama.”

Any guesses on who the corporate chain is?

Solidcore Gym coming to new ‘Avec’ building on H Street, NE

Avec, a transformational $200 million mixed-use development encompassing two blocks at 901 H St. NE, is pleased to announce today that its first lease is with Solidcore, a rapidly expanding boutique-fitness chain with dozens of locations.

Solidcore, led by successful entrepreneur and renowned motivational speaker Anne Mahlum, has committed to 2,500 square feet at Avec, which is scheduled to open in 2020 and will feature 420 multi-family units along with 44,300 square feet of street-front retail space that may accommodate restaurants and many other uses.

“Bodymass Gym opened its doors just over 2 years ago in the Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington. We have an amazing group of members who have helped us grow rapidly and we are proud to announce the opening of our first DC location at the corner of Georgia Ave and Harvard in NW DC. We are excited be part of the up and coming Park View neighborhood and bring high quality training to an area that deserves more fitness offerings.

“I love this place they always had great service. I know they had an “inspection” on Thursday so I wonder if that had something to do with it? Does anyone else know! So sad to get this email and so suddenly they closed.”

Sculpt DC opened up back in September 2012.

We understand that you don’t want to hear another member’s conference call while you’re working hard on the elliptical, wait for a bench press while someone casually catches up on 400 emails and text messages, or wait for the dumbbells you need while their user scrolls through Instagram.
