“Dear PoPville,
I just got notice from the Washington Sports Club that they will be increasing my monthly rate by $10. Was just wondering what others are paying, particularly if you signed up at the Columbia Heights location, when I see them advertising $50 monthly rates to new members? I am not ok with paying 70-80% more than new members, and don’t even get me started on that BS “annual fee”….” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I’m wondering if you could ask readership for recos for small gyms that have small classes and or small group training sessions? I run, workout with some weights on my own, play tennis, and have dabbled in yoga and barre, but when I’m looking online at classes in the DuPont/Logan /U st area it’s hard to tell which would be best/welcoming for someone not familiar with a particular gym or workout. It’s hard to go on MINDBODY and see “interval training” or “cardio burn” and know if it would be a full class of experienced exercisers. Some complaints I’ve seen for classes on mindbody too are that they are too full, which I’m trying to avoid.”
