Thanks to this weekend’s awesome weather I really got to see some proper gardens shine. It was also fun to see folks in their yards planting in nearly every single neighborhood I passed through. This one is from Pleasant Plains/Columbia Heights. Tiered gardens like this are among my absolute favorites. I believe these gardeners are true artists.

I always like the ones that cascade over the retaining wall.

Plus I think it’s wild how many of the same types of flowers seem to start blooming at the same time – this past weekend I started to notice rose’s blooming:

Another great example of a dividing garden – every year this one from Columbia Heights looks fantastic.

I’ve always given this house on 13th St, NW a tough time because of its prison door

but I gotta give credit where credit is due – they have the makings of a sweet garden out front.

I know garden of the day posts usually end around Labor Day but I had to include this one from Columbia Heights. It was also featured in the Spring and I was amazed how they completely replanted for the Fall. Awesome.

Hard not to like these Japanese Maples. You can also see a pretty sweet door in the background as well.
