DC Fire and EMS and reported: “This was the scene that greeted #DCsBravest when they arrived at the scene of the Working Fire in the unit block of Bryant St. NW. Despite the intensity of the flames, they prevented the blaze from extending to the 3rd floor or to adjacent homes.”

First reported at 7:30pm Sunday: “Box Alarm unit block Bryant St NW. Smoke showing 2nd floor of 3 story middle row dwelling.”

Update from DC Fire and EMS: “One Alarm fire rear old Grimke School 1923 Vermont Ave NW. Debris and ports-potties on fire which produced large amount of visible smoke. #DCsBravest have extinguished fire. No injuries. Investigators requested.”

“We unfortunately have to cut our Bastille Day festivities short today due to an issue at the restaurant. MERCI, MERCI to everyone who came out and celebrated with us this weekend and today!

Thanks to S for sending last night: “Found this car in the alley between Irving and Kenyon on block between Sherman and Georgia. Heard from neighbor that police came to check it out in the middle of the night.”

“it was a fire, likely caused by a lithium battery!

You may want to warn your readers about this very dangerous phenomenon and tell them to NEVER put these types of batteries in the trash or recycling! They can often now be used in a number of products, including, sadly, greeting cards!”
