1780 Columbia Rd., NW
A liquor license application placard has been posted outside the church where the new hotel will be coming in Adams Morgan:
New full-service hotel with two restaurants featuring meeting and event spaces, gym, spa and swimming pool. Dancing and live entertainment will be offered for booked events such as wedding receptions. Roof top summer garden seating 460 patrons. Hotel has approximately 220 rooms.”

3225 8th Street, NE
From Dance Place’s website:
“Welcome. Dance Place is a center of dance activity in Washington, DC offering dance performances every weekend, dance classes for adults and kids, and arts in education programs for youth.”

Mark this as another amazing transformation – from Oct. 2013:

“Dear PoPville,
Or as my neighborhood is dubbing it “Nightmare on Buchanan St”.
On the 1400 block of Buchanan St NW they completely razed a beautiful Wardman rowhome without the proper permissions, causing structural failure to the adjoining homes. DCRA is asking the neighbors, whose houses were damaged, to pay for new firewalls and re-enforcement. This blatant disregard to the neighborhood (and the permitting process) is frightening. If you see what’s been done, it’s absolutely awful. I’ve never seen anything like it in any neighborhood in DC. The one of the house you can see white because there is absolutely nothing but daylight behind the brick. There is nothing in place to even keep the façade standing. It’s a miracle the façade hasn’t crumbled.”

1745 N Street, NW
These are the boarded up buildings we’ve been talking about for many years by the Tabard Inn on N Street. Just noticed the signage out front and also a new website is live where you can register for updates featuring ‘The Row’ and ‘The Flats’:
“Situated on a tree-lined street just two blocks from Dupont Circle, 1745N is where historic meets modern, and sophistication and style share a single address. Here, you can tap into the energy of the city or just as easily retreat from it. Hundreds of restaurants, bars and boutiques all around you. Parks, green spaces, and Metro less than two blocks away. Welcome to Dupont Circle’s most inspired new condominium.”

Thanks to a reader for sending:
“The facade of the building must be kept, but demo has started on the back of 57 N St NW. The murals facing the back of the artists’ studio on O St are goners….”

Anyone know the development plans?

We learned about and saw a rendering for La Casa back in December 2012. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite style but I like the way it turned out.

Hiatt and Irving St, NW 2009:

1125 Spring Road, NW
“Dear PoPville,
DC government has posted materials about the project here.
The results of a resident survey are available here.
The city has their own spin on it. The city suggests that 80% of respondents want “some” mix “ranging from 10% – 100%”.
Even using the skewed questions (only offering choices at % levels that seem pretty arbitrary), however, 72% of respondents want there to be 1/4 or less affordable housing in the complex.
That’s just a quick glance. There are some upcoming public meetings as well.”
From ANC Rep Vann-Di M. Galloway:
“The Department of General Services will host a follow-up to the August 12th Community Meeting. It will be held on Tuesday, 9 September from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Raymond Recreation Center in the Multipurpose Room on the second floor.
In this meeting we will discuss Program Development for 1125 Spring Road, N.W.”

@TSpencerClark tweeted us this great photo this morning:
“In just a few hours, our beloved Marvin Gaye mural in #Shaw will be covered over for good…”
