“Dear PoPville,

A sincere plea for help (lawyers that can represent a neighborhood, we need you!), and answers (from District leadership, we need these, too!).

I am an Anacostia resident (since 2010), writing on behalf of more Anacostia residents and our unanswered petition imploring the Mayor, DHCD and Chapman Development to deliver a vibrant, mixed-use development that promotes walkabilty and provides neighobrhood-serving retail where we live. The project of note is now known as the Maple View Flats but was part of the Big K Special Merit Project. (more…)

Update:

“Dear PoPville,

Last night my friend and I came to a hockey game and when security personnel saw Ukrainian flags, they told us Ukrainian flags are not permitted by Capital One Arena and wouldn’t let us in unless we get rid of the flags.

Keep in mind Ovechkin, the captain of Capitals still has a profile photo on his Instagram with Putin.”

Capital One Arena’s website says:

“Unless otherwise specified by teams or event management, guests are welcome to bring small signs, posters and flags for events. Banners are not allowed. The following guidelines apply:

“Dear PoPville,

I currently rent a one bedroom apartment in a building in DC and pay $2195 a month. My lease just expired on 2/28/22 and I’ve gone month-to-month. It will be short-lived because I close on a condo later this month. The apartment building requires 60 days notice to move out instead of 30, which I submitted on 2/15 when I went under contract. So my last day of paying rent will be 4/15. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I still haven’t gotten my tax return back from DC last year. I filed on time (well with the extensions everyone was given anyway) and everytime I check the DC tax website status it says processing. I’m curious if anyone else is still missing their return from last year or has any tips on how to get this resolved?”

“Dear PoPville,

We have some wood pallets that 311 bulk picker-uppers wanted nothing to do with. Do I have to rent a truck to take them to the dump, will they take them? Any place to recycle?”

Maria asks: “Do you know if the Buredo on 14th and I is permanently closed? No signage but there’s a masterlock and it’s totally dark

I’ve called the store twice during business hours and have only gotten voicemail. Though, their website remains live.

There was a time when Buredo was all the buzz. Buredo opened this location back in 2015. Stay tuned.
