“Dear PoPville,

Someone setup an LLC using my home address. It is a single-family home, and we have owned for 5 years, so I’m not sure why / how they used my address to setup a business. This happened around January 2022 and for the last few weeks we have been getting all kinds of mail addressed to the business, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Save Mott’s Market

Neighbors in the Capitol Hill community are banding together to save their corner market, and they need more help.

Since 1916, the corner market at 233 12th St. SE has been a staple in the Capitol Hill community. Known as Mott’s Market, families have come to know this corner market as a pantry, gathering place, and safe haven for the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Mott’s represents a way of life that is disappearing on Capitol Hill. We have lost many similar markets across the city in the past decade and fear we are about to lose another.

The owners of the 233 12th St. property, which includes the corner store, have put it up for sale. “Dear PoPville,

I saw you had a post in January about someone looking to redo their backyard from concrete to landscaping but our little HOA is looking for someone to do yard maintenance throughout the year and we are STRUGGLING so I thought I’d see if the PoPville community could help. We have a small front and back yard in Brookland (the back is literally just a tiny patch of grass and two small patches of mulch) and had a landscaper for a couple of years who was inexpensive and did a fine job but then he just randomly ghosted us at the end of last summer, like actually fell off the face of the planet. “Dear PoPville,

Do any of you have an obstetrician or midwife you recommend? Anyone deliver a baby using Kaiser?”

“Dear PoPville,

In A Pickle is shutting down in Eastern Market. He announced it on the Facebook page on 3/19 and it’s very sad to see it go! For me, like many, it was the main reason for going to eastern market on the weekends. Anyone know where to get these pickles and olives from now that he’s shutting down?

“Dear In a Pickle Fans,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of In A Pickle Company. We are grateful for the support of our customers over the past 14 years I have enjoyed meeting all you over those years. (more…)
