“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking to rent out his condo that I own. I spoke to a realtor and the process sounded a little more involved than I initially imagined, including getting a license and notifying my mortgage lender that I would be renting the property (potentially giving them the ability to refinance and raise my rate?). My mortgage contract says that the property has to be my primary residence for at least 1 year, which it has been. Otherwise it is silent on renting. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

While out taking photos of my roommates dog at the tulips near the National mall, I misplaced my wallet. I went back a day later to look for it, hoping maybe no one had seen it yet, but it was no where to be found. Today, after being in the office all day, my first item of business was to cancel all my cards, but I found an envelope with no return address at my front door containing my wallet and a nice note. “Dear PoPville,

At the P Street Whole Foods I was charged 20% more at the register than the price offered on the shelf. After a 10-minute wait at the customer service desk and another 10 minutes of interrupted discussions they agreed to an exchange giving the lower price at a savings of $1.15. They didn’t take the label off the shelf for the next customer either. (A couple of years ago when this happened they gave me the item at no cost and also issued a $5 courtesy credit, which took the bad taste away). Other stores honor the offered price with even more reluctance. There’s a perception that it’s required by consumer protection law, but does anyone have source or citation to offer when pushing back.”

“Dear PoPville,

As I head towards one-month at the border, I requested Dan post one more time as I’m seeing changes at the border. The influx of refugees has declined somewhat, and organizations are on the counteroffensive; that is, as resources are available, an increased amount of medical supplies and food items are being delivered as far as the fighting front. Organizations I’ve seen doing the impossible; World Central Kitchen (the sole provider of hot food from the border to the front); paracrew.org (with whom I’m involved, taking medical supplies and food items to hard-hit cities and front lines via a vast network of personal cars); and the ifaw.org, the sole at-the-border pet responsibility entity (rescuing, taking-in and transferring pets). “Dear PoPville,

I wanted to share this survey I found floating around on social media. They’re looking to change/improve the parks in the downtown area and are asking for public input! I’m hoping people can find this so we ensure the future of the parks actually reflect what residents want! Here is the survey.

I’d recommend taking it on a computer if possible as there are a bunch of images to compare.”

“Dear PoPville,

Here’s the story… Monday, 4/4 and the time was 9:30 am!

I was seeing N for a recuperating hamstring injury and you were working with H on what seemed to be your final appointment rehabbing a shoulder injury. You told him about a rad weekend snowshoeing in Beaver Creek and I chatted you up about how fun that sounded. You tossed me a dashing smile and a goodbye as you headed out the door.

I wanted to get your info, but knew I couldn’t ask the PT crew because of HIPAA (and because I would get brutally teased by both N AND H)! I’d love to hear more about outdoor stuff you like to get into around the DMV if you’re interested in connecting. I live in northwest and would love to go for a hike or take you bouldering if your shoulder and my hammy are up to it.”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made. Monday’s Hank’s MC was connected!

“Dear PoPville,

Would you mind asking for recs on weekday lunch spots (we’re taking the day off bc friends are visiting, but sending our toddler to daycare, so non-kid friendly spots preferred.) We’re looking for a spot where there’s a big difference between dine-in vs. takeout experience. As new pandemic parents who haven’t really figured out babysitters, we don’t “get out” much!”
