“Dear PoPville,

Is it just me or has there been a rise in spam texts in recent months? I seem to receive one every other day from different numbers. I wanted to see if other DC residents have experienced this too.

Perhaps the freakiest text I’ve received recently was someone claiming that they met me at Artechouse DC and that they were in need of cash desperately ($500). (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My boyfriend parked on Sherman Ave NW on Sunday around 4pm, across the street from the Shaw District Dogs. When we went to move the car today, it was completely wrecked. There’s a large amount of sawdust on the sidewalk and a cut tree up on the stone wall – technically on Garfield Terrace Senior apartments land. Did anyone take pictures of the tree on our car, or see what organization took care of/cleaned up the tree?” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My friends and I have been noticing a large increase in baby birds on the sidewalk dead…so awful!! Any word on what’s going on there??? We’ve seen so many all around dc it’s so sad!”

Somebody asked about this to our twitter and I think some mentioned migration season and the danger of birds crashing into windows – does that sound right?

“Dear PoPville,

What is the legal move here at this intersection of 6th and Constitution NW? I read it as you cannot turn unless the arrow is green. What that causes is cars to honk as not many people are used to not turning when there is no red signal. Should DC make this sign more clear?”

“Dear PoPville,

I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction for a spray tan. I moved here during 2020 and have many weddings coming up this summer thanks to the pandemic pushing everything back and am looking for a tan that will not make me look like a Cheeto. It can be a salon or someone that does house calls, whatever people have had success with I am willing to try!” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My question to the community is …. has anyone who rents in DC have had an ADDENDUM added to their rental agreement when the initial contract expired and it became a month -to-month lease?

‘Pursuant to §§ 42-3203 of the DC Landlord Tenant Act, when a lease expires, the parties may remain in the rental unit, but the tenancy automatically becomes a month-to-month tenancy.'”
