I’m curious if people who have recently gotten a lease renewal offer would be willing to share their base rent and the proposed increase?
I’ve heard people say things like “my rent is going up 20%!” But 20% on a mid-pandemic deal (like a $1300 studio) and 20% on an apartment that was already close to market rate are two different things!”

On Wednesday, I was driving down Whitehurst Freeway in Georgetown (just south of 27th St). The sewer grate in the middle of the exit lane popped up as I drove over it and my brand new car is now essentially totaled. Is there any way to pursue recourse with the city? I’m very frustrated this happened! The strut and suspension in my car is broken. I hope the grate was fixed bc I imagine it’s very unsafe and hurting other people’s cars too!!!!”

I’ve gone to the Center for Advanced Orthopaedics, and my health insurance company needs more information from them to process a claim. However, neither my insurance company nor I have been able to get through to anyone at the medical office – we’ve left several voicemails on their line. “Dear PoPville,
I was on a run in Rock Creek Park Tuesday and as I was enjoying the views of the creek and bright green spring leaves I spotted a bald eagle. It was awesome to see and was huge! I started to point it out to other people biking and jogging by on the trail and a little group formed. Fun to see everyone get excited to see it! There was one guy running by who I waved at to let him know and he stopped to check it out. (more…)
