From DDOT:

“Hot weather began early this year and that means the DC Department of Public Works trash and recycling crews will begin their collections an hour earlier, at 6 am, when temperatures are predicted to be 90° or more Tuesday, May 26-Saturday, May 30. DPW will observe Memorial Day, Monday, May 25; therefore, collections will “slide” to the next day.

Residents may put their trash and recyclables out for pick-up starting at 6:30 pm the day before their collections. Trash and recycling containers should be removed from public space by 8 pm on the collection day or a sanitation citation may be issued.

Throughout the summer, when the temperature is predicted to be 90˚ or higher or the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments announces unhealthy air quality (Code Orange or Code Red days), DPW collection crews will begin their work at 6 am to avoid health or environmental issues.”

“National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the National Capital Region until 10 pm this evening. There is a possibility of 70% chance scattered severe thunderstorms mainly between 6-8 pm with totals of ½ inch (expected) and 1 inch (on high end). The current forecast is mostly sunny and 78°.”

“Today, Friday, March 6th the Government of the District of Columbia will open with a two-hour delay.

The District’s snow emergency will be lifted at 9:30 a.m.

Trash Pick-Up
The DC Department of Public Works will attempt to pick up trash and recycling today. If trash and recycling pick-up is discontinued because of conditions, residents are asked to hold onto their items until their next collection day.”

“The Office of Personnel Management reports that Federal Agencies in the Washington, DC area are open under 2 hour delayed arrival and employees have the option for unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework. Employees should plan to arrive for work no more than 2 hours later than they would be expected to arrive.”
