Thanks to a reader for writing in and letting me know that the old Lambda Rising Bookstore space at 1625 Connecticut Ave, NW was getting fixed up. While only scuttlebutt at the moment, it seems that the space is going to be filled by a Comfort One Shoes. That seems a bit odd considering Comfort One Shoes is closing a space just down the block at 1607 Connecticut Ave, NW. Well not the most exciting news but there you have it. More info as it becomes available.

Labyrinth will be coming to 645 Pennsylvania Ave. SE. Their Web site says:

“Labyrinth Games & Puzzles is a family-friendly, community-focused store featuring a wide selection of non-electronic, specialty games, puzzles, and mazes for purchase, rent or play in the store. With activities and products geared toward all ages from 1 to 100, Labyrinth offers something for everyone. Many of our products are sourced from small, U.S. artisans or fair trade importers. We encourage you to visit, talk to our knowledgeable staff and most importantly have fun playing!”

It’s wild to hear about a new store like this in the age of computers and video games. Looking forward to seeing what their goods.

We learned back in late Sept. that Dr. K’s Vintage Clothing would be opening up at 1534 U St, NW and I’m happy to say they are now open for business. I spoke briefly with owner, Som Kiat, who takes his collecting very seriously. You’ll see denim from the 1870s and some very very cool stuff. At the moment the credit card machine is not hooked up so only cash and check is accepted for another week or so. To buy or to browse it’s def. worth checking out. And most def. a great addition to U St, NW.

Lots more photos after the jump. (more…)

Many of you may have heard the news that was broken by the Washington Business Journal yesterday but in case you missed it:

“After years of negotiating in the neighborhood, trendy retailer Anthropologie will open a store in the Atlantic Building at 950 F St. NW in Penn Quarter.

The clothing and home furnishings retailer has leased 10,662 square feet in the Douglas Development-owned building, according to Norman Jemal, vice president.

The Penn Quarter location of Anthropologie plans to open sometime during spring 2011.”

They currently have a location at 3222 M St NW in Georgetown. Any fans of Anthropologie?

Thanks to a few readers for sending word about this development. One says:

“I was walking to work yesterday and noticed that work was being done in the empty retail space located in the Marriott Courtyard Located in the 1300 block of 2nd street N.E. Today they finally put up a sign that indicates a new 7 Eleven is going in. That will be great benefit for the people working such as my self in the area.”

Another writes that it is right near the New York Ave metro stop. Do you like the addition of a 7-11 here? Would you like to see a 7-11 open up in your neighborhood?

I just noticed that Color Me Mine closed up at 2439 18th St NW. Their Web site says:
