Last week we learned about the Oct. 23rd
opening date
for the Logan Circle West Elm. Fans of nearby Peregrine who were concerned about West Elm’s plans for a cafe will be happy to know it’s no longer the case. From an email:

“We are set to open on October 23rd and will feature two floors of retail space. And although we were super excited about the cafe, the decision was recently made to nix the coffee shop in order to bring the community a bigger West Elm Market selection! We will also have a full-service design lab and a team of homestylists to do in-store consultations and home visits for everything from accessorizing a room to helping design and furnish an entire row house! We are really excited to be a part of the Logan Circle / 14th Street community!”

“Dear PoPville,

I searched and didn’t see any mention of the buildout that’s happening at 1614 14th St. NW next door to Pearl Dive. I found a PoP article when the building was for sale for $3m and then another touting the Caribbean food at the bodega next door. Just curious if you have any insight as to this space.”

I hear it’s going to be a frame store for pictures and paintings. Anyone else hear?

From a press release:

“Frager’s Hardware of Capitol Hill is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Roadside Development, LLC a Washington, DC-based real estate company, to rebuild its original store and reopen its home of nearly 100 years. The neighborhood institution was located at 1101-1117 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE until it was gutted by fire in June 2013. Frager’s Hardware (Frager’s) opened at this spot in 1920 but has operated over the past year out of three temporary locations throughout Capitol Hill. (more…)

Thanks to a reader for sending:

“Did they close?? Sign on the door on Friday night said “closed” but it was on notebook paper, couldn’t tell if it means closed for good or power was out? Tried stopping by Sunday night, same thing… this is a travesty! could it be true?!”

I’m afraid so. 32 Below frozen yogurt opened up back in 2011 at 703 8th Street, SE. Their website is no longer active and their twitter hasn’t been updated since June.
