Thanks to Amanda for passing on from Old School Hardware:

“Dear Neighbors,

Since July of 2010, my wife Katie and I have owned Old School Hardware. We’ve been proud and honored over the years as our customers, neighbors and friends have helped us to make it one of things that makes Mt. Pleasant a special place. We have decided to pursue a new opportunity outside the DC area and will be selling the store. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Love this series. Would be great to see one on liquor store prices. I grew up in CA with Bevmo and selling in grocery stores, so the price of any liquor was fairly set across most stores. Here it feels like the same bottle can range in price by $10+ across stores.”

Ed. Note: You can see Best Thai here and best carryouts here.

So, I titled this post ‘2nd best liquor store‘ because the best liquor store in D.C. is a cool little spot called Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits.  It is not really little but is really the best, there is no debate. Also they have a La Cheeserie. And their staff is top notch – “We couldn’t be prouder that we have 10 employees — 1/5 of our staff — who have been with us for over 25 years.” And their prices are the best. They are the best. So it is written so it so by order of the Prince of Petworth, March 7th 2019.

OK now that we got that out of the way, where is the 2nd best liquor store in D.C.? Per the OP’s request – where are the best bargains besides Costco? What liquor stores are the best for selection? Best beer? Best wine?

Thanks to Brian and John for sending:

“In addition to whatever they’re doing on the inside (not sure what it is, but it seems substantial) they’ve stripped a lot of paint from the exterior. Contractor says goal is to open in 2 months.

This 7-11 closed in March of last year for remodeling and neighbors want their 7-E back!! Restart the clock to T-2 months.

Thanks to Zach and District Dogs for sending. From a press release:

About a week ago we reported the closure of Victoria’s Secret (followed by closures of Art of Shaving, and Rochester Big & Tall in March.). In the Big and Tall closing post a commenter confirmed some scuttlebutt that I’d been hearing:

“DCRA permits show that Sephora is moving into at least some of this space – 6000 sq ft.”

STAY TUNED.
