Cheesemonster Studio is thrilled to announce its grand opening on Thursday, April 11, at 713 Kennedy St. NW. Cheesemonster was established two years ago as a mobile catering company by cheesemonger Alice Bergen Phillips. The brick and mortar location is a partnership between Bergen Phillips and beverage veterans Hilarey and Brian Leonard of Lost & Found and Free State bars.

The cozy space includes a full service catering prep kitchen for its signature artisan cheeseboards, cafe seating for 20 for cheese and charcuterie boards as well as wine and beer service Thursday-Saturday evenings 4-10pm, and space for private events and classes. (more…)

The small format Targets have soft opened (with great fanfare and ribbon cuttings last night) in Cleveland Park and Shepherd Park. I stopped by Cleveland Park’s and like a moth to a flame I was guided to the glowing glory that is Target.

So basically you go down the escalators and to the right is a grocery:

“In its ongoing efforts to bring amazing beer to people, Craft Beer Cellar DC will begin offering crowlers for sale beginning Wednesday, March 27. Friday.

Crowlers, or can-growlers, are 100% recyclable one-use containers that are filled and sealed, allowing consumers to transport draft beer home for later consumption.

Craft Beer Cellar DC worked with DC City Council Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen and the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) to amend the law to allow off- premise retailers to sell crowlers. Previously, retailers were only allowed to sell draft beer to go in growlers, a reusable container. (more…)

Thanks to Grant for sending their “store moving sale”. Anyone happen to hear where they’re moving to?

Euro Style’s website says:

“Euro Style an urban retail store is located in the 1300 block of H Street, NE Washington, DC. The store offers fashion-forward European inspired contemporary clothing for men and women.

For years before the groundbreaking for the H Street Reconstruction Project, Moe Abdi staked the future of his retail business and his livelihood on faith in H Street’s rejuvenation. He uprooted his fashionable clothing store from trendy Georgetown and planted Euro Style firmly in the 1300 block of H Street NE.

The year was 2004, and his store was surrounded at the time by a glut of vacant, dilapidated, boarded-up buildings. (more…)
