“Dear PoPville,

Hey can we revisit Top Spanish Cuisine in Park View? They appear to be open regular hours again w/ a happy hour as well. [“Top Spanish offers Spanish Food and Tapas, full bar. Daily Happy hour starting at 4:00 pm”] Went the other night because I’ve seen the lights on recently and it was great food, and the Mexican food is gone. It was tragically empty, though.”

We can and we shall. Check out their menu here.

Thanks to Josh for sending “what looks like to be a decent size Mission by Nats Park (N and South Cap)” You can see Mission’s Dupont Circle menus here. Washington Business Journal reports:

“The team behind Mission, the massive Mexican restaurant in Navy Yard that expects to open Friday in time for the christening of Audi Field and, a few days later, Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game, is very close to having pulled off the impossible: They’re going to open on time.”

Devastating update on 2 Amy’s from their Facebook:

“it’s the good news/bad
news/good news sandwich. GOOD NEWS: we are okay, nobody got hurt. BAD NEWS: we will be closed for the foreseeable future. a water pipe burst in the heart of our restaurant during the middle of the night. we came in the next morning to find our kitchen under 5′ of water. it’s going to take us awhile to regroup, rebuild, reopen. how long? weeks, for sure. hopefully not months. fingers crossed. GOOD NEWS: we will be back!!!

Thanks to Stacey for sending this update on the American City Diner space from Washingtonian Magazine:

“Local entrepreneur and restaurateur Steve Salis is taking over the space.”

Co-founder of &pizza, Salis is an owner/partner in Federalist Pig, Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe and recently acquired Ted’s Bulletin. Personally I think a Ted’s Bulletin would do very well in this space. Stay tuned to see what’s coming.

Capitol Cider House is nearly here! From their website:

“At Capitol Cider House, we do cider right. No added chemicals or preservatives. Only showcasing producers within 200 miles of the Capitol building. Always gluten free. Not too sweet. More like a fine wine than a popsicle.

All our goods are sourced from within 200 miles of the US Capitol Building. We have a few of our own concoctions and many ciders from Mid-Atlantic producers that are otherwise hard to find in DC. Our menu is always changing, but we’re always keeping it local.

We invite you to visit our brand new production space and tasting room at 3930 Georgia Avenue. Chill out on our patio, play a round of shuffleboard and enjoy a snack while sampling a flight of regional ciders. Kids are welcome, and friendly dogs can hang out in our outside space.”

They should be open in the next week or so but I’ll be updating when I get an exact opening date. A few other things before checking out all the photos of the amazing space. A big patio is coming. There will be food – starting with Empanadas and Rotis (and hot dogs for the kids) from food trucks. There will be 10 ciders on tap, 1 mead, 1 beer plus cans, bottles, wine and some cocktails. Now check out the amazing space:

Many more photos after the jump. (more…)
