There was tons of excitement leading up to Shake Shack’s opening in May in Dupont at 18th and Jefferson St, NW (just off Connecticut.) I’m curious, now that they’ve been open for a bit, to hear what folks think – are the burgers as good as you anticipated? And I’m also curious for those who’ve tried them at the baseball game – are the stadium burgers as good as the ones at the Dupont Circle location?

Thanks to a PoP reader for sending word that “something is going on” at the Greek Spot located at 2017 11th St, NW. I spoke with the owner Monday night who confirmed that they would be expanding into the space next door. This is great news considering a few tipsters had fears the Greek Spot would be closing. Quite the opposite – there will soon be sit down dining available. For fans of the Greek Spot, you’ll know that beyond the patio out front it is mostly a take out spot. That all will change if build out goes according to plan by the end of October. The new dining space next door should seat around 20-25 people. Stay tuned for updates in late October when an opening date for the expansion firms up. Great news for U Street!

We judged the Greek Spot in June ’09 and Tina visited them in Nov. ’08.

Senor Chicken is located at 3100 14th St NW (on Park Rd) and opened back in Nov. ’09. I was intrigued to see a Thrillist report this morning about “Secret” Ramen Noodles offered on Saturdays:

“Run by the chef behind People’s Bao catering, the Noodle Bar is a Saturday-only popup ramen shop inconspicuously “located” behind the counter of Columbia Heights’ Peruvian poultry-ists Senor Chicken; to place an order, just walk up and ask for a ramen menu”

Anyone try the ramen out yet? Any fans of the chicken?

It seems like every week or so we’re learning of a cool new restaurant and/or bar coming to coming to H St, NE so I’m curious what you guys think about a possible cap on alcohol beverage licenses?

ANC 6A’s Sharee Calverley Lawler writes:

“Our ANC is beginning a 3-part discussion about whether to request a cap on alcohol beverage licenses for H Street. The first of these three meetings takes place during the September 20th Alcohol Beverage Licensing (ABL) Committee meeting, 7pm at Sherwood Recreation Center (10 & G, NE).”

Great news for Tacos Impala fans. H Street Great Street reports:

“Tacos Impala was wildly popular during its all to brief winter operating out of the carryout window that is home to Philadelphia Water Ice. Troy Hickman — one of the partners involved in Tacos Impala — is now working to bring Impala to 1358 H Street.”

A few weeks ago a reader requested we judge B & J BBQ located at 238 Rhode Island Avenue NW. So I guess the question is simple – how’s the BBQ?

Back in Jan. ’11 folks were pretty excited to learn Wicked Waffle was coming to 1712 I St, NW. I’m wondering if anyone checked them out yet?

Their Web site says:
