1348 H St, NE

Back in Aug. 2011 we found out a new restaurant from the folks behind Carolina Kitchen in Hyattsville were going to bring a new restaurant, Sweet Charleston’s, to 1348 H St, NE. Apparently it didn’t work out as the building is for lease again. It’s a cool looking space so it’ll be interesting to see who ends up with the space.

If you walk by take a peek in the window – not something you see everyday:

1410 U St, NW

Back in April the owners of DC Noodles at 1410 U St, NW were adamant that they’d stay open despite major construction at 14th and U St, NW. Sadly, despite their best efforts to stay open they will be closing for a year. Their facebook page now says:

DC NOODLES is temporarily closing on July 1st. We will reopen in July, 2013.

We wanted (and tried) to remain open during construction but the new structure requires us to temporarily close. Good news- menu will be temporarily available at Rice [1608 14th St, NW] until Noodles reopened its doors next summer. Thanks for your support.

Stem, located next door to DC Noodles at 1412 U St, NW will also be closing for a year.

826 Shepherd St, NW

Pink Snapper opened up at 826 Shepherd St, NW in June 2010 (sorry for the old photo.) Their Web site says:

The Pink Snapper Jamaican Restaurant provides 100% authentic Jamaican food and restaurant services to the surrounding areas of Washington DC. Experience casual dining with Jamaica’s paradise food right in the heart of the nation’s capital!

Our meals are slowly prepared using the finest and freshest ingredients available. Choose from our wide selection of different entrée’s, from our fried or curry chicken to our famous curry goat roti. Stop by today, we have something for everyone!

You can see their dinner menu here. Any fans?

1064-1066 Wisconsin Avenue, NW

Papa Razzi was located at 1064-1066 Wisconsin Ave, NW.

The building is very cool, it’ll be interesting to see who takes over the space:

2000 Pennsylvania Ave, NW

On Monday we saw PAUL opened their third location at 1000 Connecticut Ave, NW. Looks like they may have a 4th in the works. A commenter writes:

“They are also supposedly opening in 2000 Penn. NW (Tower Records old space) before the end of 2012. The building management sent out an announcement to tenants of the building last month.”

You can see PAUL’s menu here.

1317 Connecticut Ave, NW

A few weeks ago a What’s Shakin’ in the Makin’ requested by a reader looked at DGS Deli coming to 1317 Connecticut Ave, NW in south Dupont. At that time the owner wrote:

“We are still on schedule for summer opening.”

And to show they have a good sense of humor – now written on the future storefront:

“For 40 years the Jews wandered the desert. We promise it won’t take that long.”

And their Web site says:

“DGS Delicatessen will brine, cure, and smoke all of our meats and fish in house. We will be open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, with an all day to-go market and 85 seats inside the restaurant serving beer, wine and spirits.”

I’ll gladly wait a few more months for that!

250 K Street, NE

Last night Zuppa Fresca wrote on their Facebook page:

Zuppa Fresca is closed. We have decided to close due to situations out of our control. We hope a tenant is found for the space who can comply with the outrageous demands of the Landlord and Management Company. We will be posting our entire story soon to let our customers know why we had to leave. We only hope that our story will help other young business owners who are trying to find truthful andhonest landlords and management companies.

Zuppa Fresca opened up (in what was going to be Gillian Clark’s Kitchen on K Street) in NoMA at 250 K St, NE back in Feb. 2012. They say they will be posting their entire story on their Web site soon. Stay tuned.

1200 19th Street, NW

From the Washington Post:

Teddy Roosevelt is the next commander in chief to have a restaurant built in his honor. Expected to open around the presidential inauguration in January, Teddy & the Bully Bar will move into the former Sam & Harry’s steak house at 1200 19th St. NW.

Sam & Harry’s closed back in April 2011. Teddy’s is coming from the same owner as Lincoln located at 1110 Vermont Ave, NW.
