Update from the owner:
“The wheels weren’t stolen. After being totaled in the crash that ended this police chase last Friday night, I pulled some parts and the wheels off the car in preparation for its eventual trip to the scrap yard. I haven’t checked yet today, but as of yesterday there’s two tickets on it for parking the wrong way—even though the crash mostly broke one of the wheels off the car and it couldn’t be moved even if I wanted to.”

I was threatened by a man with a hammer walking down Connecticut Ave at Ablemarle St. this afternoon (2:53 pm.) I was walking my two dogs on the sidewalk. The man was walking towards us and stopped when he was about ten or so feet away. (more…)
Thanks to G. for sending: “Last night at about 4:15am, 2000 block of 12th St., NW. Apparently no injuries, ambulance and fire trucks left before car was righted.”
Z. writes: “Last night around 9:30 two cars raced down Girard between 14 and 15, one appeared to be chasing the other, and they were shooting at each other out their windows. Police ended up closing off a bunch of streets, but I haven’t seen any details yet. Was right in front of my apartment building”

Last evening I was the victim of a sad scam (which others may have had better senses to avoid, but I wanted to alert in case others have as much hope in our community as I do). Two teen girls came up and asked to borrow my phone to call someone (maybe the millennial in me still assumed kids could be without a phone) so I let them. (more…)

Can you please alert your followers about this horrifying incident that happened this morning in Dupont to my friend. We’ve ask MPD to update the alert to make sure people know this was not just a robbery but also an attempted kidnapping.
This morning at 6am my female friend was walking and was grabbed from behind at the corner of 19th and Q NW from a man who tried to force her into his white sedan. She fought him off and he took off in the car. (more…)
