“Dear PoPville,

Our much beloved Honda Ruckus was stolen last night from the corner of Summit Pl and Quarry Rd NW in Lanier Heights. I had a heavy duty Kryptonite lock/chain and the thieves cut right through it.

My boyfriend filed a police report this morning. Apparently, another scooter was stolen two blocks away last night on the corner of Summit Pl and Clydesdale. They smashed the area around the ignition, so I have a suspicion that it was some kind of scooter stealing ring that is only interested in parts. (more…)

“On yesterday’s date, June 25, 2018, members of the Fifth District Crime Suppression Team conducted a Search Warrant on the above address in connection with another Pop-Up Marijuana Party. The Warrant was successful in seizing over 10 pounds of Marijuana, hundreds of Marijuana edibles (some look exactly like Gummy Bears and other kids candies), illegal Marijuana oils, and over 20,000 dollars in cash. 23 Arrests were made, all were adults. Man Shot 8am yesterday in Edgewood, Multiple Shots Fired also Damaged Cars and Houses

“At 7:58 am the Fifth District Dispatcher received several calls reporting sounds of gun shots in the area of Edgewood, Evarts and Channing Street NE. The officer from the Fifth District canvassed the three locations and found several vehicles that were damaged and a few homes that were struck. A crime scene was also located in the 500 block of Edgewood Street, the reporting citizens provided a great description and a hour later a man responded to Washington Hospital Center suffering from a single gunshot to the leg. No arrest have been made however any citizens with additional information can call (202)727-9099.”

“Dear PoPville,

I am writing to make you aware of a sexual assault that happened to a close friend yesterday evening – Saturday, June 23 at 11:09pm at North Carolina Ave and 6th Street SE (by the Citibank). My friend was walking down 6th Street (towards Penn) when she noticed a man walking behind her, sticking close behind. The street was well-trafficked, so she continued on – staying aware of him. The man approached her and asked her for the time. When she looked at her phone to tell him, he put his arm around her neck and held a gun to her temple. Then, three other men approached and began to sexually assault her while saying they wanted her phone and purse. Finally, a man walked by (and continued to do so) until my friend asked for help. He walked her the rest of the way home. This incident will be reported to the police. That part of 6th St is a well lit and well-trafficked street in our neighborhood. My friend was sober and aware of her surroundings. I wanted to send this as it was a very bold attack in the hopes that you might let others know to stay vigilant.”

“At approximately 1840 hours, Fourth District members responded to the rear of the 3500 block of 11th ST NW, for sounds of gun shots. Upon their arrival, they located an adult victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was conscious and breathing. The victim was then transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect is described as a black male, in his early 20s, wearing a white baseball hat, a T-shirt with orange, medium complexion, about 5’10 in height, and short hair.

Fourth District Detectives are actively investigating the case.

Tuesday night, there was an armed robbery on the 300 block of 13th St SE. MPD sent out alert #I20180348513:

Alert: Robbery (GUN) at 2150 hrs in the 300 block of 13th Street, SE. Lookout for two B/M’s wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, approximately 5’10 and last seen driving a silver Dodge Caravan.

My video camera (paid for by the city’s program) captured the crime. I emailed the clip to the detective investigating the crime and the neighbor is okay.”

MPD announces another “marijuana pop up party” bust

Earlier this week MPD reported:

“the Fifth District Crime Suppression Team executed a search warrant on a marijuana pop up event in the 2200 block of 25th Place, NE. The event was widely advertised and well attended. Officers arrested 30 distributors, seized pounds of marijuana and THC containing products from 28 vendors, seized over $10,000 in US Currency and recovered 3 firearms!”

Today MPD reports:

“Last evening the 5th District Crime Suppression Team executed a D.C. Superior Court Search Warrant in the 1700 block of 3rd Street NW in reference to a “marijuana pop up party”. Crime Suppression Team members made ten arrest and recovered large amounts of various illegal forms of marijuana and marijuana edibles. Great job Crime Suppression Team for shutting down another illegal “marijuana pop up party”!!!!”

I was walking home from a work happy hour around 10:45pm on S Street near the Masonic Temple when a guy came up behind me and assaulted me. He wrapped his arm around me and shoved his hand up my dress. I was on the phone and in total shock. I managed to get away and he ran off when he saw another person coming down 16th St NW. He was a white male, had a hoodie on, and was maybe about 5’10. Just a good reminder to be aware of your surroundings.”

I encountered a peeping tom masturbating outside the window of my ground floor unit last night.

I live on the hill near union station and H street and saw a peeping tom masturbating outside of my ground floor bedroom window last night at 11:45. He saw me notice him and made eye contact and some obscene gestures before running away when I picked up the phone to call the police. (more…)
