From Qualia:

“We had a theft at Qualia over the weekend sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning. Our safe with cash and documents was taken. This is a heavy commercial safe, around hundred pounds, it’s a solid metal box about 20X15X15 inches, with a red painted drop drawer in the front, a spin dial combo lock. I don’t have much hope of recovering the cash, but I figure they will eventually dump it somewhere and they won’t have use for the documents. Just asking our neighbors to keep an eye out.” (more…)

I got called for Jury Duty, again. Now I get called every two years after seemingly rarely getting called. I even got called to a grand jury this year though fortunately, since I work for myself it would be rough to do, I didn’t have to serve on the actual jury. Anyway, now that I’ve figured out how to insert polls into posts again – I’d like to revisit the Jury Duty question. When’s the last time you were called to jury duty? Did you serve on a jury? How long did your jury duty last? Did you convict or acquit?

From Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie:

“Neighbors,

In response to a spate of recent violent incidents in Ward 5, last week I shared that I would be providing a more detailed update, as well as hosting a series of community conversations around public safety. I called upon Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to increase patrols and have been working with both MPD and Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) to confront recent challenges. Please find below specific actions taken by MPD and ONSE in response to my requests.

Finally, I want to invite all residents to attend and participate in one of three upcoming community conversations on public safety taking place this Saturday, December 14, Monday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 18 (full details below). While I understand the notice for these meetings is relatively short, I did not want to delay these important conversations.

In service,

Kenyan
