“The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of the suspect who destroyed property and defaced private property in the District.

On June 2, 2025, at approximately 7:42 p.m., Second District officers responded to the report of destruction of property in the Unit block of Dupont Circle, Northwest. The suspect destroyed rainbow colored cloth that was wrapped around light poles. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving. CCN: 25082529

On June 4, 2025, at approximately 7:58 a.m., First District officers responded to the report of a disorderly in the 600 block of Maine Avenue, Southwest. The suspect defaced private property with graffiti spraying offensive language. CCN: 25083229

Detectives located video and photos in both offenses and worked to identify the suspect. (more…)


Reader reports just before 3pm: “Carjacking blew through the stop sign at 11th and I NE. Hit a DC maintenance truck and then crash into the back of a parked car. Suspects took off on foot. MPD was in pursuit and caught one suspect.(more…)

“The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in Northwest.

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 8:17 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 1400 block of Fairmont Street, Northwest. The suspect brandished a handgun, fired and struck the victim, (more…)

“Metro is reminding customers of a new systemwide banning policy taking effect this week.

The purpose of the banning policy is to prohibit a person who commits a sex crime or a sex-related crime, anyone who violates Metro’s Passenger Conduct Rule, or a person who commits any assault on a Metro employee, contractor, or customer from entering or using the Metro system, properties, or facilities for more than 24 hours.

Previously, MTPD could ban a person for up to 24 hours if they violated the passenger conduct rules in Metro’s Tariff, which includes abusive, unacceptable, or unsafe conduct.
