“On August 3, 2013, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Metropolitan Police Department and the Metro Transit Police Department responded to 13th and U Street, NW, in reference to a call for an assault in progress. Once on the scene, the units located a complainant who stated that she had been walking east bound in the 1300 block of U Street, NW, when she was struck in the face by an individual as a second subject took her purse. At that point, a total of five (5) subjects attempted to flee the scene by entering the metro station in the 1200 block of U Street, NW. All five subjects were stopped with the assistance of Metro Transit Police, positively identified by the complainant, and placed under arrest.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide which occurred in the 1000 block of Euclid Street, NW.

On Friday, July 26, 2013 at approximately 6:18 am, personnel from the DC Fire & Emergency Medical Services received a call for smoke in an apartment building in the 1000 block of Euclid Street, NW. Upon arrival, they forced entry into an apartment and pulled the decedent from within. The decedent was suffering from burns and apparent gunshot wounds. The decedent was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The decedent’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending a ruling on the cause and manner of death.

The decedent is identified as 31 year-old Randolph Scott Harris, Jr. of Northwest, DC.

On Thursday, August 1, 2013, at approximately 4:00 pm, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 34-year-old Jermaine Brown of Northwest, DC, pursuant to a District of Columbia Superior Court arrest warrant and charged him with First Degree Murder while Armed in connection to the death of Randolph Scott Harris, Jr.”

The Fifth Police District has made a significant arrest of an individual involved in a series of Home Break ins that occurred in and around our Bloomingdale/Edgewood Communities.

This suspect was arrested yesterday evening by members of the Fifth District Detectives Unit acting upon information provided by a victim. Armed with this information, 5D Detectives were relentless in following up on that information which led to this arrest.

This arrest led to a search warrant that yielded a number of personal items that had been taken from homes listed below (more…)

At approximately 8:05 pm, at 1759 Columbia Road, NW, a complainant left his vehicle running while he ran into the 7-11. A suspect jumped into the complainant’s vehicle and drove off.

A short time later, the stolen vehicle was spotted at the McDonalds at Georgia Avenue, NW, and Barry Place, NW. The male suspect was seen leaving the stolen vehicle and walking into the McDonalds, by a Third District officer. Third District officers surrounded the area and the suspect was captured.

The male suspect was positively identified by the complainant and arrested and charged with Theft 1 Stolen Auto.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth Investigation Division have announced that an arrest has been made in connection to the Sexual Assault which occurred at 7th and H Street, NE.

On Friday, July 26, 2013, between 12:30 and 12:45 pm, a juvenile female was walking in the area of 7th and H Street NE, when she was approached from behind by an unknown adult male and sexually assaulted.

On Friday, July 26, 2013, 27 year-old Demetrius Littlejohn of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Child Sexual Abuse.”

“Wednesday at approximately 2:20 PM, officers from the First District received a report of a Robbery that occurred in the 1200 Block of D Street, Northeast. The complainant was approached by two suspects who robbed the complainant of his property. A citizen in the area observed suspicious activity, followed the suspects, and reported their observations to responding officers. Following an on scene investigation by First District Detectives and the Officers, two Juvenile suspects were placed under arrest for the Robbery. The complainant’s property was recovered and returned to him.

The victim and citizen did an outstanding job of assisting the police, and the officers were right where they needed to be at the right time to bring this to a good conclusion.”

“Third District officers assigned to work an anti-burglary detail observed a suspicious male in an alley in the 2200 block of 13th Street, NW. The officers made contact with the subject and noticed a metallic object and corresponding bulge in the subject’s waist area. Further investigation revealed that the subject had a loaded MAC 11 with an extended magazine in the waist band area. The subject was placed under arrest and charged with multiple weapon related charges.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department have announced an arrest has been made in an assault that occurred in the 1800 block of 14th Street, NW.

On Sunday, June 23, 2013, at approximately 3:15 am, a male performer who was dressed as a woman was assaulted by two women while inside of an establishment in the 1800 block of 14th Street, NW.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2013, one of the women, 28 year-old Raymone Harding of Gaithersburg, MD, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault. The case remains under investigation.

Update from MPD:

“At approximately 610 pm a citizen was carjacked by an unidentified male displaying a gun at Georgia Avenue and Harvard. Minutes later, a 3d officer got behind the vehicle taken and a short pursuit began. Additional officers were able to respond to the area and the pursuit ended in the 1500 block of Ogden Street with the arrest of the wanted subject and a recovery of the car and handgun believed to have been used in the crime.. There were no injuries to anyone and as a result of the great actions of the officers and civilian witnesses, tonight we have one less criminal on the streets. Thank you…..”

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department have announced an arrest has been made in connection with the Assault with Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault while Armed and Burglary that occurred in the 2400 block of 2nd Street, NE.

On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at approximately 4:00 am, two suspects entered a residence and produced a handgun and a knife. One of the suspects sexually assaulted an adult female before taking property and fleeing.

On Saturday, June 29, 2013, 18-year-old Tayvon Barber of Northeast DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary One while Armed and Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault while Armed, following an investigation by the detectives of the Metropolitan Police Department.
