High Praise for Buna Coffeehouse Now Open in the former Uneeda Market space

“Dear PoPville,

Just tried Buna coffeehouse on Georgia and Webster (replaces Uneeda market) and it was pretty legit. Great coffee (carry Swings) and great variety of food from pastries to Ethiopian options. They had their soft opening 3 weeks ago but will have their grand opening this Saturday. They will also start introducing Ethiopian coffee ceremonies after the grand opening. Also carry gelato (watch out lulubelles).

Sausage egg and cheese bagel did the trick for me too.

Hope this place succeeds.”

Today in Starbucks that are closing – Glover Park’s Last Day is March 30th. New Restaurant Coming?

Ed. Note: Yesterday we spoke about Starbucks closing 7pm today at 21st and P St, NW, 77H and 9th and G St, NW.

Thanks to Mark for sending us the update on the Glover Park Starbucks closure.

“Glover Park Starbucks last day now officially March 30th, huge loss to the neighborhood , no replacement as of yet.”

As for the replacement, last week a liquor license placard was posted there that said:

“New Class “C” Restaurant serving light American food and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Total Occupancy Load of 100 with seating for 50. Summer Garden with 50 seats.”

We’re Entering Quiznos Territory as yet another Starbucks announces Closure

Last week the rumor that the Starbucks at 21st and P is closing.  This follows the closure of another Starbucks in Dupont at 1301 Connecticut Avenue, NW as well as the coming closure of one in Glover Park next month and the one on 77 H Street, NW.

And now Robin reports:

“Just saw a Starbucks location is closing (near Chinatown). Curious if you’ve heard any rumblings as to why or what’s going in its place? It’s always crowded when I’m there…”
