RIP Logan Circle Liquor. Coffee coming?
STAY TUNED.

3400 Georgia Ave, NW
Wowza. I’ve been getting lots of inquiries about what’s going on at the old Kraken Axes (RIP Murry’s) space on Georgia. Well, holy cow. They should be soft opening as early as tomorrow or possibly this weekend with a grand opening coming later this month. Stay tuned for confirmation on that but in the meantime, lots of info from a press release:
“HOOK HALL, named in salute of a legendary pirate, this new venue is inspired by the same pull of the sea and sense of adventure buccaneers are known to embrace. Enhanced with design elements and accents reminiscent of the oceans on which he sailed, Hook Hall has reimagined an industrial 13,500 square-foot venue to offer a unique, multi-flex space in the burgeoning Park View/Petworth community. By day it serves as a neighborhood gathering place serving coffee and pastries and affording comfortable meeting and working space. By evening its 40-foot long bar, with a 32-tap system, turns into a tavern ready to serve as a local watering hole and celebration spot. (more…)

Back in 2010, before the craft coffee boom hit full stride, we asked if this cafe was a contender for Best Coffee in Town? Anyone know if they are closed for renovations or closed for “renovations”? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Talked to the owner of the 14th st Mini Mart at 14th and Randolph. He also owns the vacant Chinese place next store. The Chinese place has been totally gutted and he said he plans on opening an Ethiopian cafe with coffee in the next three months. The space between the mini mart and the Randolph Tower parking lot will be a patio. Hopefully his timeline is right. Would be a really exciting addition to the neighborhood.”

A liquor license placard has been posted for a Licht Cafe:
“New Class “C” Tavern with light fare such as appetizers, salads, sandwiches, desserts, coffee, and drinks. Total Occupancy Load of 80 with seating for 40 patrons.”
Updates as they get closer to opening and we learn more.

655 New York Ave, NW – location actually on 7th Street where the old Passenger used to be.
Looks like number eleven is up and running!
Ed. Note: I believe this is the old Passenger storefront at 1021 7th Street, NW.
