Thanks to Herbert for sending:

“When I move into a neighborhood, I really try to become a part of the community. My favorite thing to do is find coffee shops to try out and meet the staff. Before I moved to Columbia Heights, I visited a bunch of coffee shops.

Tynan is by far my favorite coffee shop in DC (and honestly, ever!), and holds an incredibly special place in my heart because it was the first place I dined indoors and sat into work after being fully vaccinated. The staff are incredibly friendly (shoutout to John, Leti, and Maria!), (more…)

I’ve been lots of queries about the status of Open City at the National Cathedral. Their website says they remain temporarily closed but a reader had heard that they will be reopening in the Fall. However today they posted a temporary reprieve on their IG:

“We’re back (temporarily) for the 4th!! Celebrate Independence Day with us and enjoy an ice cream cone before the fireworks! Ice cream will be available on our patio two hours before the firework show starts. We’re in the process of reopening our doors (more details coming soon)(more…)

Thanks to Christina for passing on the GoFundMe:

“I am a young, single mother and entrepreneur opening a new coffeehouse in Northeast DC, showcasing Wards 5 and 6.

God has placed this amazing opportunity in my heart to open and give back to the communities that make up the majority of Washington DC and that make this city the amazing city it is today.

After experiencing homelessness for myself in DC, I knew I needed to make a difference in the lives of others experiencing the same issues I had, especially single, homeless mothers and their children. I plan to have my coffee shop in Northeast’s Union Market area, (more…)

Thanks to Kristi for sending: “I’m excited to report that the Gregorys Coffee in Navy Yard opened today (Thursday)! Coffee’s good & I’m looking forward to trying nearly everything on their menu (look at the Cold Brew Bar list!). I love that they’re offering a more creative & healthier menu than competitors” (more…)

Thanks to Matt for sending last night: “The Blue Bottle Coffee at Midtown Center has been wrapped in brown paper. No signs on the door. I’m guessing we lost another one.”

When we recently spoke about the Logan Circle and Wharf permanent closures we noted Blue Bottle’s website only lists locations for Georgetown, Union Station and Union Market.

However, in more positive coffee news: (more…)

Last we learned that Blue Bottle had permanently closed their P Street/Logan Circle location. Thanks to Alex for passing on the response he got from Blue Bottle about their Wharf location:

“Hey there, thanks so much for checking in. In our efforts to meet our guests where they are, we have closed this cafe and reassigned the team to higher-traffic locations. We hope to see you at one of our nearby locations!”

Blue Bottle opened their Wharf location in 2018.

Update from Blue Bottle Coffee:

“In our efforts to meet our guests where they are, we have closed this cafe and reassigned the team to higher-traffic locations. We hope you’ll swing by another nearby cafe for your coffee!”

Alex asks “do we know why the Blue Bottle Coffee on P street is permanently closed? or is Google wrong?” (more…)
