“Dear PoPville,

For many many years I got my hair cut at the Hair Cuttery at Dupont by a guy named Ray. My hair ain’t easy to cut and he did it perfectly. Then during COVID the Hair Cuttery closed down and I didn’t know how to find Ray. I didn’t even know his last name. So, I had to find someone else. I struggled to find somebody who could give me a decent haircut. I did find someone at Sports Clips in Columbia Heights. One day I walked in there and to my amazement there was Ray! (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Was curious if your or the readers had any idea what happened to Ordinary People Barbershop–a great spot that was on 7th St. until recently. One day I walked by and it was cleared out and the sign on the window reads “THX SHAW” and “See You in 2024-5″. That’s an awfully non-specific time frame! Any clue?”

“Dear PoPville,

I am in need of a hairstylist – ideally, one that specializes in or is amazing with my fellow blonde-haired folk. I’m a natural(ish) blonde and had a great stylist but they moved. I’ve tried several other stylists and salons since but just haven’t found the one. (more…)

Thanks to Tom for sending: “Did a double take passing by Camilo’s Barber shop on Windom St. The new sign went up 2 days ago. Diane, who has cut hair at Camillo’s for 20+ years, bought the business. I popped in and she said that she doesn’t plan to change anything, and that Camilo still stops by every day to say hello.”

“Dear PoPville,

Hoping you can help me find salons/blowout locations in DC that A) have lots of stylists and can fit you in quick and B) work well with curly hair :)”

“Dear PoPville,

Given all the reports of bars, restaurants, and gyms requiring COVID vaccinations, has anyone heard of any hair salons, massage places, nail salons, or other personal care services requiring vaccination – whether that’s requiring it of their staff and/or requiring it of customers? Would like to know what places are safer for me to patronize.”
