Poolesville High School represent!! “Carol painted along with an actual episode of “The Joy of Painting.” I know I said local but who doesn’t love Bob Ross?!?! My stress level drops just saying his name.
As heir to the Washington Post Peeps contest, I take this competition very seriously! All entries should be emailed to [email protected] with ‘The PoP Peep Project’ in the subject line. Please include a brief description about your entry and please include 2 photos, one closeup and one capturing the whole scene. Entries should be based on local topics of interest if possible and sent by the end of April. Depending on how many I receive, I’ll post all as I get them. I will then pick 5-10 finalists that you guys will vote on. I will take the winners out to dinner and drinks (unless the high school kids win, then just dinner.) I will also bury the winners (and 2nd and 3rd place) in PoPville t-shirts. Good luck!!

Well this is amazing. SO, it’s officially on! Yesterday we posted about the end of the Washington Post’s Peeps Contest. And The PoP Peep Project was born. Well it’s born now thanks to teacher Shannon Heaton and the incredibly talented AP Art History students from Poolesville High School who have an annual “Art-historical Peep Show”. Right off the bat I was blown away by the entry above from Mark Herron, Paige Solans, and Avery Whitney-Blum. Their take on Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors is genius.

“Everyday DC,” a photography exhibition on view at the Southwest Arts Club in Washington D.C., from March 1, 2017 through March 31, 2017, explores these questions by visualizing daily life in Washington, D.C., through the eyes of over 100 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from eight DC public middle schools that represent all four quadrants of the city.
