If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 3-4 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“Last summer my cat Lucy, then named Pickles, was on PoPville via Homeward Trails. As you can see, since then she’s come to rule both Lanier Heights and the skies with an iron fist (paw?). I’ll never need an alarm as long as she’s around, tapping me on the eyes to wake up and feed her deli meat. Such a weird, wonderful cat!”

bubba

Bubba – Tails High, Inc.

Bubba is a beautiful, long-haired, blue-eyed boy from Tails High, Inc.  He always answers when called and purrs when pet.  He’s a laid back fluffball that just relaxes in your arms when picked up or carried around.  Through no fault of his own, he has lost three homes in the past year and half due to some sad circumstances, but he remains hopeful that he will find his forever home where he can happily live with his new person.   If you would like to adopt Bubba, please complete our adoption application on our website.  You can also visit us at one of our upcoming events!

Juliette – City Dogs Rescue

Juliette is a 6-year old cocker spaniel from City Dogs Rescue.  Juliette is an affectionate girl that loves spending time with her people and will lay by your feet wherever you may be.  This sweet girl is very calm and does well in a crate when her foster family is away.  She does well with her foster family’s daughters and plays well with other pups.  You can apply to adopt Juliette or any of our available dogs on our adoption page, apply to foster one of our pups here, or meet some of our pups at one of our upcoming events!

“My co-worker rescued this kitten today after we heard its cries coming from under the hood of a mini cooper outside our store on 14th street NW (Current Boutique). We tried for hours in the afternoon heat to get it out. Meghan finally scooped if off the engine block after even the humane society couldn’t get it out. What a heroine! The manager of Home rule next door adopted the baby!”

“Dear PoPville,

I was a resident of the Northeast DC home that was intentionally set ablaze on June 4th.

My fiance and I lost our dog, Tenley, and my neighbor her dog (Biggy smalls) and a cat (Lila).

We wanted to acknowledge their lives in some small way:

To Lila: You may have been a devilish cat, but I loved you anyway. I’m so grateful to have had you by my side for 13 years. I loved you both so very much and miss you everyday.

14272602088_bb11f2d0d4_z

To Biggie Smalls: May there be plenty of baby carrots to munch on and people for you to cuddle with where ever you are.

Today would’ve been Biggie’s 5th birthday, and I think this is a great way to remember him and the other furry friends we miss so dearly.

14272753817_aaca37406a_z

To Tenley (aka T, T-dog, T-money): We hope that Great Dane heaven is a place full of plush, king-size beds, peanut butter by the spoonful, and grassy fields to roll around in. We hope you know how much you are loved and missed. High-five, sweet girl. Love, Mom & Dad.

We don’t have photos, but a very loving pit-bull, Bella, was also lost in the fire. She made so many smile. xo Bella.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving us a public place to recognize the furry family members who were taken from us. – Laurie, Mike & Lauren”
