The right hand side of the photo should tip you to where this block is. Anyone recognize it?

Who remembers back in the day when “face” was used as an insult? One would say something like “Oh, FACE, I just schooled your ass” or something like that. Who’s with me? Beautiful, I’m totally going to try and bring this back…

This is a tough one but there is a hint in the very back of the photo. Anyone recognize it?

I think this one is going to be a bit more difficult to identify. Anyone recognize where it is?

“My roommate Rachel is one of my best friends. Our brains are from the same jar and we share many thoughts, even being able to sometimes control others with the power of our combined minds. We only met last year but it feels like we’ve always been friends. Rachel is one of the most caring, loving and sweet people I know. She is one of those few people about whom one could honestly say loves others unconditionally. Rachel is an extremely calm presence in my life and makes me feel like less of a spaz than I actually am. She takes good care of me, especially making sure I eat well. We share an odd sense of humor that has us laughing between 95-98% of the time (there is a records joke in there, and she knows it.) Our neighbors probably think we should be committed. Rachel is always there to offer her excellent advice and she is someone I constantly turn to. She’s encouraging when I’m down on myself, consoling when I’m having a tantrum or some other ridiculous thing, and she kills scary bugs. She has the patience of saint to live with me and to indulge the habits of who I think anyone would consider to be a difficult person. I’ve never had a better roommate and surely never will.”

“This is Mo. Mo is the coolest roommate in PoPville for more reasons than just her hair, though as many people know, her hair is the raddest on the block. It’s so rad, it has its own ego. The real reason she’s the coolest roommate ever is that she’s one of the most supportive, generous, and downright hilarious people I have ever met. She shows her supportiveness in many ways, such as sincerely and enthusiastically complimenting my cooking, even when said “cooking” involved heating the contents of a can/jar/box. On top of that, a day never goes by that she doesn’t tell me how great I am! (As a result, my ego nearly matches that of her hair.)

Mo is one of those folks who is very generous with her friends. Whether it is with her time and affections or more material things, she can not be accused of stinginess. She’s as likely to get a random present for someone when she’s out shopping as she is to buy for herself, and you never know when you’ll be surprised with a hug (an especially good remedy for bad days).

I’m struggling with how to properly contain her hilarity in text. She’s one of those

people with completely contagious laughter, and she spends most of her day laughing. As our brains were spawned in the same jar, we are able to transmit our many inside jokes with a mere glance in each other.

Due to her good humor and general charm, she is also an easy person to spend a lot of time with. She’ll happily nerd it out with me at nerdy conventions and conferences, laze on the couch playing video games, or head out to trivia at Nelly’s. We have a baby apartment which would be (more than) unpleasant with anyone else. It’s hard to imagine living without her!

All of this is true, and ought to be enough to win her coolest roommate alone. But something that I think will appeal to all people who have lived with others, and not just to me:

She always does the dishes.”

“I would like to nominate my roommate Liz for the coolest roommate competition because it just doesn’t get any cooler than her. Liz is all smiles all the time, even after a long day of work. There are a total of five girls in our Victorian row house in Columbia Heights that actually used to be a brothel (we even have chandeliers in our bedrooms) and Liz always comes home in a cheery mood gathering everyone together for some sort of fun activity in the evenings. During the work day, Liz keeps us entertained by sending all the roomies fun articles and blogs she has read, including a lot from PoP and fun celebrity gossip! She’s always keeping us up to date with what is hip and happening in the area and where we should be every night of the week! Liz’s real specialty, though, is making brownies and she does so quite often. At least once a week you are guaranteed to be seduced out of your bedroom by the wonderful odor of chocolate being baked by Liz with love and care. Since Liz grew up and went to college in California one of my favorite things about her is “showing her” new things in the Mid-Atlantic area. She is always enthusiastic and open for new experiences and we have a blast on our adventures.
