Pretty damn cool. I’m not sure I get it but I love the fact that it’s here.

Hella nice rock up front.

I’m still taking photos if you have a great spot for a morning cup of coffee. Send to princeofpetworth (at) gmail (dot) com.

Pretty cool window and border, yeah?

This is a pretty cool building at 1225 13th Street. I’m not sure if the photo does it justice. Can a particular style be applied to this building? Thumbs up or down?

The flyer says:
“Beautifully and meticulously renovated modern interior behind an historic facade. 2BR/2.5BA with private rear garden, 1-car parking, chef’s kitchen with ss appliances, new baths with travertine tile & walk to metro and U Street.”
You can find more info here. House is located at 2022 10th Street, NW. (Very close to U Street.)
So the location seems pretty tight but the quarters also seem a bit tight. So for a small house in a good location is $679,000 a good deal or not? It is interesting to contrast with yesterday’s good deal or not? which was 4 bed, 2.5 bath for $659,950…

“It’s been 11 years (wow) since I met my roommate Andrea when we were freshman environmental studies majors at the University of Maryland. Flash forward to 2007, and after several years in different cities (and sometimes different continents) we’ve found ourselves in the same city again – here are a few reasons why Andrea just might be the coolest roommate in all of PoPville:
We successfully shared a tiny dorm room our sophomore year in college – thankfully we’ve progressed since then to a 2BR apt in Mt. P!
She loves my cats despite their crazy antics (sometimes encouraging the craziness, actually), and takes care of them when I’m out of town.
I don’t know how I managed to find another half-Bolivian, environmentally and socially conscious roommate like myself but it’s cool that we have alot of that stuff in common (personality-wise we’re quite different though). Her other side is German, which makes for an interesting mix, let me tell you!
She’s CLEAN – (seriously, she steam vacuumed our carpets last weekend!) and a few weeks ago when we went through the most stressful move I’ve ever been through, I was REALLY glad to have her there to get through it together.
And last but not least, she’s just generally a fun, energetic person who keeps life interesting – whether she’s cooking up a spicy curry in the kitchen or mixing up a martini, out on a bike ride or discussing the latest current events (she has opinions and is not afraid to express them!) I suppose her downside is that she has a tendency to burn things (while cooking) — I’ve never heard of anyone else burning a boiled egg – lol!”
Industry Tricks
As a server in a restaurant, you quickly learn the industry tricks that keep you afloat when certain circumstances go beyond your control. You may be an all-star server, and you may have friends, but there are still certain tactics that are required at the right time.
Anne, the roommate of a girl who had an in-demand boyfriend, still did not like me. The newer servers liked me, yeah, but only because I was their in-house Chuck Woolery. Things were the most positive they had ever been for me at the restaurant, but they still were not ideal.
My main ambition was to win Anne over. The Prada-wearing Cuban was long gone – never again would I see him, but Anne was still a very prominent figure in my life. She was still better liked than I was, and it only made me want her to like me more.

One day, I walked in at four to find that Anne was the only other server on the clock, angered by the poor planning on behalf of the management, but also less than enthusiastic to see that she would be sharing the floor with me. Little did I know that this would be the setting for the worst shift of my serving career. Story continues after the jump. (more…)

New Street Market in Adams Morgan
A new street market was looking lively over the Holiday Weekend at the Unity Park (Columbia/Champlain/Euclid) in Adams Morgan.
There were a dozen or so stalls selling food, crafts etc. – including a Prince of Petworth favorite – hammocks, marked at a surprisingly expensive $75.
Most of the food looked to be the usual, familiar neighborhood offerings – pupusas, tamales, bags of sliced mango, shaved ice etc. as well a stall selling prepackaged bags of nuts and other dried goods.
There was also a cool looking leather goods stall selling belts and other western items. Who doesn’t want a keychain shaped like a cowboy boot?
I’d never seen this market in action before and a quick search online yielded little. Does anyone know more about it – how long and how regularly it will run?
I sometimes feel that the humans surrendered Unity Park to the pigeons. Maybe this market will help claw back some of our territory. More on frozen yogurt coming after the jump. (more…)
