Did anyone check it out? I can’t believe I missed it! Photos and the following summary from “loveitmadly”:

“This past Tuesday evening D.C.’s own Paul Alexander, a.k.a. Fender Splendor hosted the first ever All-City Air Guitar Competition at The Wonderland Ballroom in Columbia Heights.

Air guitar veterans, novices and wildcards alike took the small stage before a packed house for a night of flips, thrusts, windmills and good ol’ fashioned face melting.

Baltimore’s Lance Karsten (a.k.a. The Shred) walked away the winner and Tim Granlund (a.k.a. The Six String General) may or may not be getting the lay of his life after shoving his tongue down the throat of a very cute blonde in the middle of his final round performance. The General took second place, with Kolb Ettenger (a.k.a. Vlad D.M. Wailer) placing third.”

Thanks to a reader for sending, sounds very promising:

“I was walking my dogs this evening and for the first time in a long while decided to walk up Upshur towards Soldiers Home. I found this place Ainsworth & Alexander at 221 Upshur St.. You can see from the picture (sorry, cell phone pic while trying to hold 2 dog leashes) that it’s kind of bare bones inside. I took the pic meaning to send to you to see if you’d heard of this place and a man came out to ask if I needed anything. I told him I just wanted to tell a friend or two about the place and he offered me a few carry-out menus. His name was Grant and seemed really nice. He told me they had just opened up 5 weeks ago and that things were going well so far. They plan on offering WiFi service in the near future and adding more furniture. Menu looks decent.. Chicken and Waffles, Wraps, Salads, Sandwiches, Mac-n-Cheese, etc. They even have desserts! Perhaps if they were open later I’d walk down the block for a piece of cake after dinner at El Limeno. Also, it’s a bit late for them to set up now, but in the Spring they have a nice little patch of sidewalk out front where they could set up a few outdoor tables for dining.

Their hours are posted as 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM Tues- Fri, and 8:30AM to 4PM Sat. Phone number is 202-541-9501”

I’m not sure if the weather will hold but if it does this seems pretty cool:

“Bike DC is a noncompetitive, community bike ride scheduled for September 27, 2008 in Washington, DC. Hundreds of riders are expected to participate in exploring the history and vitality of the nation’s capital and its many celebrated landmarks. Our 17 mile car-free route is designed to attract experienced riders, novices and families and promote the accessibility of our streets to cyclists.

The principle beneficiary of the event will be the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA).

The ride will begin in the shadow of the US Capital and the White House, on Pennsylvania Avenue. The route includes cycling past many of Washington’s iconic venues from the National Cathedral to the Anacostia River.”

Winner from anonymous:

“I sure hope this line moves fast, I really gotta go bad.”

Honorable mention from OB:

“Where’s the crazy cat lady when you need her the most.”

For the laundry? Why does it go up so far? I’ve never seen one like this before.

I don’t really understand how these fountains work but I dig ’em. How do these fountains work? You know cycle the water etc.?

Aside from looking awesome, why would one paint the trunk of a tree white?

I think this one looks pretty sweet. It is the Washington House located at 16th and Florida. The corner with the circular rooms looks dope. What do you think thumbs up or down?
