This house, at 1221 10 Street, NW is a former door of the day. One my favorite doors to boot. Anyway, the flier says:

“ANOTHER 50K PRICE REDUCTION! Elegant, renovated 2-unit rwhse. Walk to Logan/14th & P, Metro, Conv Ctr, Gallery Pl. #1 – 2 lvls, 2BR, 2.5BA, Master Suite w/ fp, LR w/ fp opens to patio/large landscaped yard. #2 – 2 lvls, 2BR, 2BA, true chef’s kit, exposed brick, huge deck, great Master Suite. Restored carriage hse/2-car grg + loft on Blagden Alley zoned commercial. Furnishings negotiable.”

More info and photos can be found here.

I’m very curious to know what you think about the house itself and the price. The price has been reduced from $1,195,000 to $1,095,000. So does a $100k price cut now make it a good deal?

I recently walked past Thomas Circle and it’s looking good. I’ve never really thought of Thomas Circle before as a great “circle” like Logan and Grant circles. But it’s got a great statue just like Logan does. So who the hell was Thomas anyway?

So if you had to rate your favorite “circle” in DC which would it be?

Cowgirl Creamery located at 919 F Street, NW is the greatest spot for cheese in DC. Like many Americans I am a huge fan of cheese. It sounds funny writing it but it’s true. Leave me with lox, bagels and cheeses and I could live for years. I’m still looking for a good lox spot but I need search no further for my new cheese spot. I can hardly believe it but this spot in DC has been open for two years now. I remember hearing from folks out in California, where the store originated, that this place was the bomb. I am embarrassed to admit that I only recently discovered it. So if you haven’t stopped by yet, delay no longer you won’t disappointed. Not only do they have dozens of cheeses but they also have wine, breads, olive oil, apple butter and sandwiches that are so popular that they often sell out. To check out all the cheeses they have an amazing library on their Web site. I was told the cheeses come from small farms all over the US and Europe. As always the pictures can do far more justice than I can write. All I can say is if you are a cheese lover it is well worth a journey downtown to check out this shop.  Lots of photos after the jump. I wondered if Columbia Heights Coffee was the best place to work or study? Sadly, the comments got deleted in the migration, so if you have a favorite spot put it in the comments.

I wondered if color choices made it harder to sell a home?

Condos above Petworth metro were but a whole in the ground. For those that don’t remember it’s wild to see this photo versus the one I posted earlier today.

From the Columbia Heights Listserv:

“Neighbors,

I have to get on and rave about a local business which under new management I have grown to love and depend on.

After clogging our tub a couple too many times by trying to give our furry dog a bath, we gave in and decided to take our dog Lionel to a do it yourself dogwash in Adams Morgan. The lady that used to be there was not very nice, but a few months ago she sold it a an awesome couple who gave the space cheery paintjob, sells dog food, and runs some great adoption events.

They dont know about this list serve, and because I think it’s such a great addition to the area, I’m posting hoping to help them off to a successful venture.”

Just curious, so how often does one wash their dog anyway?

This cracked me up because for some reason I imagined the “I.T” to stand for Information Technology. And obviously IT Banditos is hilarious. Then it made me think of the brilliant Onion articles written by “Herbert Kornfeld” the badass accountant from accounts payable. Here’s a sample:

“Yo, peep this: I know all y’all wanna hear about tha mad bugged-out shit that went down at tha annual Monroe County CPA Convention from July 14-16 at tha Ramada Inn Northeast. Y’all heard about tha violence an’ tha lootin’ an’ tha arrests an’ all that shit, but I’m here to say that most of that shizit you read in tha newzpaypas an’ saw on TV be WACK.”

Who remembers back in the day when “face” was used as an insult? One would say something like “Oh, FACE, I just schooled your ass” or something like that. Who’s with me? Beautiful, I’m totally going to try and bring this back…

This is a tough one but there is a hint in the very back of the photo. Anyone recognize it?

Lots of folks have been wondering when this store, in the Hoffman building on 14th between V and W, will open up. Well they got there signs up and the inside from what I can tell looks pretty far along so hopefully they’ll be open pretty soon.
