Pretty wild how this staircase leads straight up to a tree. A bit of a Shinto groove I suppose.

Never seen one that has this combination of glass and wood before. Pretty fresh though, yeah?

I don’t know why I love this house so much, maybe the windows. I can’t really explain it but I guess the best I can do is to say it has a quiet dignity.

Dang and it was only 5 buck too. Ed. Note: I’m not being facetious.
Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot more yard/porch/garage sales this year than there has been in previous years?

We spoke about one section of the building, located at 929 Florida Avenue, NW back in April but a reader suggested that we judge the whole building. So here it is: What do you think? I have to admit, as I walk up and down 9th Street and Vermont, I find that this building is growing on me.
For the curious they have Web site you can check out here.

I’m a pretty big fan of this location. Do you think $519,000 is a reasonable price?

Red Derby, arguably the best bar in the city, has turned one year old. I think owners Dave and Sasha should be the model for anyone who wants to open up a successful local business. They have truly embraced the neighborhood model and could not be nicer people. How often does the owner of a bar hug nearly every patron upon arrival? I wish them congratulations and much success in the future.
They will be celebrating their birthday tonight at Red Derby located at 3718 14th St. NW.

For sure the area in Shenandoah National Park is ridiculously cool. But a little closer to home, it never ceases to amaze me how amazing Rock Creek Park looks. Are there any other spots that are a must see in the DC area?
