I don’t know how I missed this one (I think from Swann Street, NW). I’ve posted some other Cavanaugh works before but didn’t recognize this one. You can see some info about the artist here.

I thought this was rather fitting for the upcoming 3-day weekend.

I love the stone on this house from Cleveland Park.

We discussed this new park back in January but the summer sun really makes it look great. It is also a much larger park than I thought. And it’s not even totally finished yet:

But i really enjoyed sitting on a bench taking a breather with this view:

You can read more about the park here.

I thought this sign was amazing. It is from the Capital City Market. In checking the PoP archives for a must read article on the Market by Nichole, I see she got a very similar photo. At any rate be sure to stop by the market to visit the great Litteri

I was surprised to receive a few requests from readers wishing to discuss a story in Yesterday’s Washington Post titled, “Get a Gun in D.C. — Do You Feel Lucky?”. It starts:
“It took $833.69, a total of 15 hours 50 minutes, four trips to the Metropolitan Police Department, two background checks, a set of fingerprints, a five-hour class and a 20-question multiple-choice exam.”
A reader notes:
“The guy who needs a gun to defend himself from living in “a dangerous part of a dangerous city” – ie – Mt. Pleasant?!

Perhaps I should call this week “Photos from cacophony76“. But what can I say, this is another amazing shot. I think it’s my favorite of the week.
Submit your photos via email or to the PoPville flickr pool here.

Hmm, I seem to be finding lots of basement condos. Before I looked it up I thought this whole building was for sale, which looks super fresh. But back to the condo – the floors are pretty sweet, yeah? What do you think of the rest of the photos?
Does $365,000 sound reasonable for this 2 bed/1.5 bath?

Napa 1015 is located at 1015 H Street, NE. I’m very curious about this spot as I’ve heard very mixed reviews. Some folks seem to love it and some hate it. I’ve heard very few mediocre comments. You can see the menu here. So what’s the scoop – thumbs up or down?
Ike pulled out the victory with 51% of the vote. It was a tough fight with the lead going back and forth between Ike and Dr. Dre. Now for 2010 I’m going to assemble a panel of 5 judges to select the winner. The polls proved far too easily manipulated. But as I’ve said before, all the contestants were great and brought many smiles to PoPville. Now one of the nice things about being the editor of this blog is that it entitles me certain prerogatives. I don’t often use them but in this case I will. I have decided to make an editor’s pick – coolest pet in popville as well. And I’m happy to bestow the editor’s pick to Dr. Dre:
I know that may sound a bit weak but I can’t wait to see Dr. Dre on a t-shirt. So as Ike is the people’s choice – he will be featured on a t-shirt as the people’s choice for coolest pet in popville 2009. Dr. Dre will be featured as the editor’s choice for coolest pet in popville 2009. Now I am going to provide Ike’s owner with a free t-shirt. But I need to know how many shirts to order. Please specify if you are interested in an Ike or a Dre shirt.
