“Because Whole Foods is selling coconut milk from Thailand—including through its own 365 by Whole Foods Market brand—even though PETA Asia investigations have revealed that monkeys in that country are caged, kept in isolation, chained for life, and trained through fear of punishment to pick coconuts, PETA “monkeys” will dump wheelbarrows full of humanely picked coconuts outside Whole Foods’ P Street store as part of a new international campaign against the company. The action follows PETA’s successful campaign against HelloFresh, which will no longer obtain coconut milk from Thailand. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

In October of 2022, I was told by my property manager to vacate my garden-level condo due to a leak which required removal of drywall. All of my belongings had to be out of my living room and bedroom to manage the leak and drywall removal. Upon removal, they found the foundation of the building had been compromised and needs substantial reconstruction. The foundation wall was improperly reinforced when a real estate developer cut into the footings to flip the space into condos in the 80’s.

The HOA Board is *slowly* working on the issue and getting assessments from engineers and contractors to do the work. VERY. SLOWLY. (more…)



Sumo legend Konishiki

What: As Washington D.C.’s unofficial ambassador of Japanese food and culture, Daikaya Group welcomes sumo legend Konishiki and the entire “D.C. Sumo + Sushi” tour to the city. The tournament is flying in six wrestlers from Japan, and Tonari is throwing the sumo stars a welcome party.

Come for selfies with sumo wrestlers, and stay for Tonari’s Japanese-Italian take on pizzas and pastas.
