From DC Water:

“This week, the DC Water Board of Directors approved a design-build contract for construction of the Potomac River Tunnel (PRT). The $819 million contract is the largest ever awarded by the Authority. The 5.5-mile-long tunnel will control combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to the Potomac River, improving water quality in this critical natural resource. This work is part of the larger Clean Rivers Project, a $2.99 billion program to improve the water quality of the Anacostia and Potomac rivers and Rock Creek by increasing the capacity of the sewer system. “Dear PoPville,

Has anyone any recommendations for someone who does runner rugs for stairs? I am constantly slipping down my stairs and definitely need something to increase grip. Looking for a company that is reasonably priced and has a good and wide selection of rug options. Thank you!”

Thanks to Dana and Mike for sending: “Just saw that Bammy’s closed but don’t see anything about why… Any info? I LOVED that spot and saw PoPville did too.”

“the Bammy’s website has been taken down. It’s kinda crazy to me how they haven’t told any of their customers that they closed. And won’t respond to inquiries about it.”

Bammy’s IG now says: “Our Navy Yard Location is Currently Closed.”

Updates when more is known.

17 years is a lot of walkabouts, a lot of photos, a lot of messages, a lot of ups and downs and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. 17 years is such a crazy number to write. 17 years. 17 years of openings and closings and everything in between. A lot has happened in that time. I remember most of it. If you’re overwhelmed by some of the current coverage here or on social media, as I know I am at times, just know – it’s always up and down and, hopefully, ultimately up.

As I do every year I just want to thank you, the readers for making this all possible. I do not take you for granted. And I know that I could not share so much news/info without your tips, emails, photos etc. So truly, thank you, thank you, thank you – and keep them coming! [[email protected] or @PoPville on social media.]

And if you are in place to contribute to our long term survival please consider joining our Patreon. Whether you are able to give $2 or $20 a month it all helps. And you’ll get a bonus PoPville Plus + post every Wednesday.

If you’d rather buy me a “beer or coffee” that would be much appreciated too and you can do so here.

Thanks for considering and thanks to all who have supported us over the years.

Another good way to help out is to sign up for our free daily newsletter so you never miss a post. Oh yeah and if you want to pick up a shirt or other merch you can do so here.

This year I’m going to tip back a few beers at my beloved Looking Glass Lounge (3634 Georgia Ave, NW) remembering where it all started. So if you’re around Thursday November 2nd, come join me for a beer or three. I’ll be there from around 6-10pm and will post a reminder as we get closer to the date. Cheers!
