“Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced today the first set of summer 2024 Filene Center performances at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Tickets for all announced performances go on sale to the public on Friday, February 16 at 10 AM.

“Wolf Trap serves as a welcoming haven for all, where our thoughtfully curated roster of award-winning artists guarantees an opportunity for everyone to create long-lasting memories that span generations,” said Arvind Manocha, President and CEO of Wolf Trap Foundation. “This year, we are thrilled to open the Meadow Commons—the embodiment of our community’s commitment and support to enhance the visitor experience through elevated concessions, improved accessibility, and more. Chesapeake House, “It was built in 1937 by the Mattingly family, making it a relative late-comer to the declining Reno City community. The Mattinglys operated a store of the first floor and lived upstairs The family sold the building to the United States in 1950. It is expected that Chesapeake House will be restored as part of a planned-unit development agreement with the developers of a mixed-use development project on Wisconsin Avenue.”

This small brick building in Tenley (right next to the Jackson-Reed tennis courts, at the corner of Belt/41st/Chesapeake) has been vacant and boarded up for as long as I can remember. At least since the mid-90s I think. (more…)

I am in a wedding coming up next month, and given the number of costs associated with participating in the events, I am wondering if you could help me ask for recommendations on a nail salon in the city that is cost effective without compromising on cleanliness and quality. Just looking for a basic manicure/pedicure – nothing fancy! Doing research on salons in the area I find they are either very expensive or have poor reviews. Could you possibly help me with asking to find something in-between?”
