I saw the post recently about energy bills and was reminded of the recent change I noticed on my Astound Broadband (formerly RCN) bills. I have a package of just home internet (no cable TV or anything, and my own router and modem) and the “bundled services” portion of my bill went from $78 per month to $105. That’s an increase of 35%! This is a big deal.
I can only guess that new NPS leadership didn’t like the scale of change in the pipeline for mile 0-1 on the towpath. The NYC firm that led the renovation of the High Line was attached to current plans to upgrade aspects of user engagement with the C&O Canal.
It struck me as a bit of overkill at the time.
A resurgent, preservationist vibe might be in play here.”

“Dear PoPville,

HRA did a mass firing of volunteers and fosters (Tuesday). It seems to be in response to whistleblower claims regarding their treatment and euthanasia policies of cats and dogs. I have volunteered as a foster for over two years and was one of the fosters fired today, even with a mom cat and her three kittens in my care.”
