Dear PoPville

“Astound Broadband price jump?”

“Dear PoPville,

I saw the post recently about energy bills and was reminded of the recent change I noticed on my Astound Broadband (formerly RCN) bills. I have a package of just home internet (no cable TV or anything, and my own router and modem) and the “bundled services” portion of my bill went from $78 per month to $105. That’s an increase of 35%!

I wasn’t on any kind of intro package so I don’t see why the prices should have changed this drastically in the new year. I used to be ineligible for Xfinity at my address, though now it seems I am eligible, yay? And Verizon insists they can’t install FiOs at my house without cutting down or seriously maiming the large tree in my backyard (clown emoji).

Are these prices comparable to what others are paying? I’m going to call and try to get them to change it, but would love to know if the grass is greener somewhere else.”
