“Dear PoPville,

Alert: dog kicker in Adams Morgan. This happened to my dog today (Friday) and two other people have messaged saying it’s happened to them on the last two years in the area. We are not sure if it’s the same guy or just lots of shitty people. Also if you could do a shoutout to the store where the guy who came to help me works… I’d really appreciate it. About half dozens guys either passed or just stood there as this guy screamed and poked at me after kicking my dog. The guy from the shop sprinted across the street and stood in between us. The assailant immediately turned tail and left as soon as another man showed up.(more…)

Meet the Queen of the Dog Park: Tuca! Tuca is an incredibly loving, social, playful brown-eyed beauty who is eagerly looking for her forever home. This affectionate young pup is full of energy, enjoying mornings and evenings packed with activity. She loves to be part of everything you do, always following you around and eager to engage with fellow doggos at the park. Her favorite game is tug-o-war, and she adores sprinting and jumping to her heart’s content. After burning off her energy with some zoomies, Tuca becomes a super sweet snuggler, happily curling up with you for some quiet time.

Tuca is wonderfully social and gets along well with other dogs, making her a fantastic playmate — hence her status as Queen of the Dog Park! Tuca sleeps peacefully in her crate overnight, plus, she is making great progress with housetraining and learning words like “sit,” “down,” and “come.” She is also working on her leash manners and learning not to chew on things she shouldn’t. Her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a fast learner. Her puppy energy and eagerness to love may make not ideal for adopters with small children who aren’t used to dogs, but with some additional training, Tuca will be a wonderful member of any family!

Tuca is a terrific companion! With a bit of guidance and plenty of love, Tuca will thrive and be a joyful addition to your home. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic, and heartwarming dog, Tuca may be the one for you. Apply today to meet her!

What’s black and white and awesome all over? Neko! Nothing can keep this girl down! Even after a brief temporary health issue that left her feeling less than her best, this Oreo-colored mama cat maintained her incredibly sweet disposition and nurtured her six kittens while she recovered. Her purr motor is always running, and her engine’s preferred fuel sources are playing, meeting and spending time with people, and cuddling. She thrives as the center of attention and will add warmth and harmony to your home with her calm, friendly, easygoing personality. Apply for Neko today!
