DC Fire and EMS reports: “Update 2 Alarm fire Unit block Seaton Pl. NW. All visible fire extinguished. Opening up and extinguishing hotspots. Extension to adjacent attached home halted. Anticipating several displacements. Still no injuries reported.

Update 2 Alarm fire unit block Seaton Pl. NW. Attacking fire all floors via interior and working to cut off extension via attics. Still fire in attic and roof of original fire building.”

“Aprox 25 units and 120 personnel on scene. 2 more engines & 2 trucks requested. No initial reports of injuries.” (more…)

I am wondering if I could get some input from the community about alternative routes to DCA from the Dupont area during the upcoming military parade.

I have a business trip early Monday morning (6/16). My flight is at 6am and I see the road closures are in place until 6am on 6/16. Both routes I am aware of from the dupont area to DCA appear to be closed (Arlington Memorial Bridge and 14th St/I-395). (more…)

From the Mayor’s Office:

“The District of Columbia (District), Georgetown University, and the National Park Service announced an agreement regarding the development of property along the Georgetown Waterfront that will complete a decades long effort to realize expanded non-motorized boating activities along the Potomac River in Georgetown, as well as the construction of a Georgetown University Boathouse.

Under the terms of the agreement, Georgetown will donate a parcel of land on the Potomac River to the National Park Service to be added to the boundary of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. This parcel includes an easement along the Capital Crescent Trail, which would be extinguished when the land is donated. This will allow for uninterrupted use of the trail by the public. (more…)
