“The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a teenager involved in a shooting in Northeast.

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 1:20 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Benning Road, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The detective’s investigation revealed that two suspects were involved in an altercation with the victim inside of an establishment. (more…)

“The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the death of a child in Northwest as a homicide.

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at approximately 10:49 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 3700 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest for the report of a child in cardiac arrest.

The child was transported by D.C. Fire and EMS to an area hospital. After all lifesaving measures failed, the child was pronounced dead. (more…)

“After nearly eight years of serving the Eckington neighborhood, we have reached the end of our lease term. Despite the ongoing support of our landlords through the difficulties of the past five years, operating a brick-and-mortar business in DC is an increasingly costly proposition. It has always been our sincerest hope to be an asset to the community and positive force in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, intentions alone are not sufficient to finance a business.

And so, our last day of serving the public will be Monday, November 25. (more…)

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced the planned deployment of red-light automated traffic enforcement (ATE) cameras to two new locations in the High Injury Network (HIN) in the District. The HIN locations are traffic sites where data analysis has identified speeding and speed-running as safety issues. A warning period for the new red-light cameras, one (1) on Massachusetts Avenue and one (1) on Bladensburg Road, will begin Sept. 26, 2024. (more…)
