Suspects Sought in Homicide: Beach Drive & Joyce Road, NW

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two suspects wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing.

On Monday, September 2, 2013 at approximately 7:53 pm, members of the United States Park Police were notified of a body found on the bank of Rock Creek in Grove #6 near Beach Drive and Joyce Road, NW. They located an unconscious adult male suffering from apparent stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene to initiate life saving measures, but found no signs consistent with life. The remains of the decedent were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.

The decedent has been identified as 49 year-old Matias Molina of Northwest, Washington, DC.

Information on the two suspects wanted in connection with this case is as follows:

The first suspect is identified as Angel Dilmar Monge, also known as Alex Avalos. He is wanted for Murder II While Armed in the stabbing death of Matias Molina. He is described as a 40-year-old Hispanic male, 5’ 6” in height, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a black scorpion on his left forearm. Angel Dilmar Monge should be considered armed and dangerous.

The second suspect is identified as Jose Santos Cantarero. He is wanted for Accessory After the Fact in the stabbing death of Matias Molina. He is described as a 36-year-old Hispanic male, 5’ 10” in height, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Jose Santos Cantarero should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to not take action, but call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
