From MPD:

“On today’s date [Tuesday], at approximately 1:35PM, First District personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of C Street, SE, in reference to a Burglary in Progress. Within minutes of receiving the call, the officers responded to the location, and apprehended a subject inside the bathroom of the residence.

The subject was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.”

“Just after 1:30 pm today [Tuesday], units were called to Eastern Ave and Quackenbos St NE for an assault. Responding officers quickly determined a complainant had been assaulted and robbed of property in the 6100 blk of Eastern Ave NE. The suspects fled to a residence in the area.

During the on scene investigation, the suspects were located and positively identified as the subjects that committed the robbery. Both suspects, adult males, were placed under arrest for robbery and one of the suspects was found to have an outstanding warrant for an unrelated matter.”

“Last night [Monday], just before midnight, units received a call for a robbery at Georgia Ave and Randolph St NW. Upon arrival, a complainant reported after parking his vehicle, he was approached by two suspects one of which brandished a gun. The suspects demanded property of the complainant to which the complainant complied. The suspects then attempted to steal the complainants vehicle but were unsuccessful. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

After responding officers broadcast a lookout, two subjects were observed several blocks away. One subject stopped as police approached, the other fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the fleeing subject was apprehended.

After further investigation, it was determined these subjects were responsible for the robbery/carjacking. As the investigation into this matter continued, earlier today, a search warrant was executed at a residence which yielded a gun.

Both suspects, adult males, have been arrested and charged with armed robbery/carjacking.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
