Thanks to all how passed on the farewell note from Free2Move:
“Today we’re reaching out with an important operational update: Free2move will conclude its car-sharing service in Washington, D.C. on September 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
This decision reflects our choice to focus our car-sharing operations on our core European markets, where we have the scale to keep investing and deliver the best possible service. In Washington, D.C., our vehicle fleet contracts are reaching the end of their term, and taking on a full local fleet renewal isn’t something we’re able to do at this stage.
We want to sincerely thank our riders, our local partners, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), and city leaders for their support throughout our journey here. We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience this causes to your daily travel.
What does this mean for your account?
✔️ Until September 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM: You can keep reserving, driving, and parking in the Washington, D.C. Home Area exactly as you do today. Vehicle availability may decrease as the final date approaches.
✖️ After September 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM: You’ll no longer be able to start or end trips in Washington, D.C. Please make sure any active trip is ended inside an active Home Area by that date and time.
