Ukraine Focus, a Washington-based nonprofit that delivers ambulances and lifesaving medical supplies to Ukraine, has adopted the city block in front of the Russian embassy, through DC’s Adopt-a-Block program. On Saturday, August 15, volunteers with the organization and the community will pick up trash on the city block in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, and celebrate the installation of signs recognizing the adoption by the DC government.”

The full media advisory:

“Humanitarian Organization Ukraine Focus Adopts Block In Front of Russian Embassy, Reminding All that Ukraine Does Not Stand Alone.

WHAT:
Ukraine Focus, a Washington-area humanitarian nonprofit that provides ambulances, medical supplies and other lifesaving equipment to Ukrainian first responders, will hold a community cleanup in the area surrounding the Russian Embassy as part of the District of Columbia’s
Adopt-A-Block program.

The August 15 event will bring together Ukraine Focus volunteers and supporters to care for a section of Washington while drawing attention to the organization’s ongoing humanitarian mission in Ukraine. The event will include a cleanup of the area directly in front of the Russian Embassy, along with remarks from Ukraine Focus leadership and invited guests.

WHY IT MATTERS:
Ukraine Focus provides practical, direct support to Ukrainian first responders by helping deliver ambulances, medical supplies and other lifesaving equipment to Ukraine.

On August 15, the organization will bring that spirit of service to Washington, taking responsibility for the care of a local area through the District’s Adopt-A-Block program. The location creates a particularly powerful visual and symbolic setting: a U.S.-based humanitarian organization supporting Ukrainian first responders will be cleaning and caring for the streets directly outside Russia’s diplomatic presence in the nation’s capital.
