“Micro Happy Hours, Macro Savings: The Group Behind Behind Bar Charley, El Chucho, & Little Coco’s Launches Wildly Affordable Happy Hour with $5 Cocktails, $.50 Oysters, $1 Tacos & More”

From a press release:

“When did the happy hour cocktail casually become $12. Then $14. Then $16. Gone are the days of the $5 cocktail and an affordable night out on the town. In this economy? Please. These days, it seems happy hours have lost their charm and going out comes at the casual cost of a mortgage – and Goodbar has decided they’re doing something about it by launching a Micro Happy Hour series across their restaurants. Short windows. Insane prices. Great food & drink. Even better vibes. Blink and you’ll miss it.

Goodbar Group has watched this city change over two decades, watched their neighborhoods shift, and watched the people who make D.C. what it is get priced out of what used to make it fun. And they’re done watching. “We’ve been through a lot together – the city, our regulars, our staff. There are ebbs and flows. Right now people are stretched thin and we have the ability to do something real about it, even if it’s just for a couple hours a day. So we are. Come in. Let us take care of you for a minute.” — Jackie, Co-owner.

Here’s what to expect at participating restaurants:

El Chucho (3313 11th St NW, Washington, DC 20010) — Progressive Taco Happy Hour, Monday–Friday 4–6pm. The earlier you arrive, the cheaper the tacos. We’re talking $1 tacos at 4pm – Chicken Tinga, Al Pastor, & Calabacita, creeping up to $3.50 by 5:30. Three tacos maximum at a time, no takeout, just you and a bar drink.

Bar Charley (1825 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009) — The full $5 treatment. Mon–Thurs 5–5:30pm; Fridays 4–5pm. Food, beer, wine, cocktails, and a shooter of the day – all $5, all in. No boxes, no takeout. You stay, you enjoy it.

Charley Chesapeake Chophouse (Washingtonian Center, Rio Lakefront, 9811 Washingtonian Blvd L9, Gaithersburg, MD 20878) — Progressive Oyster Hour, daily. The early bird gets the oyster. Show up at 2pm and they’re $.50 each. Wait until 5pm and you’re paying $2. Still a steal! Late night round two runs 8–10pm, same pricing!

Quarry House Tavern (8401 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910) — $.50 wings and any sauce of your choosing, 4–5pm. That’s it. Just you, a beer, and as many wings as you can handle.

Little Coco’s (3907 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20011) — $10 dinner, 5–5:30pm. One cheese or marinara pie plus a select beer or glass of wine, ten bucks. One per person, no sharing.

Times are tough these days and Goodbar wants to help – so come out, spend less, and forget whatever is happening in the world for a minute. The windows are small. The deals are real. Get there.
About Goodbar Group

Goodbar Restaurant Group was built on a simple belief: the best restaurants belong to their neighborhoods. Over two decades, Jackie Greenbaum, Gordon Banks, and Chef Adam Harvey have opened some of Washington D.C.’s most beloved local spots — Little Coco’s, El Chucho, Bar Charley, Quarry House Tavern, and Charley Chesapeake Chophouse and Goodbar Catering Co. — each one a reflection of the community it calls home. Every concept is different. The through-line is always the same: honest food, genuine hospitality, and a room that feels personal — because it is.”
