701 Kennedy Street, NW
“Inspired by the Tulip Poplars of Rock Creek Park; the tallest trees from the native woodlands we love. Poplar will feature mushrooms and other foraged goodies that thrive under the canopy of our locals forests, as well as new wines, fruit wines, and ciders crafted by the team behind ANXO Cider.”
I’d be been hearing rumors for months now so I’m super excited to share the big news from owner Cerrissa Fitz:

“I’m excited to share that I have leased 701 Kennedy St NW with my spouse Sam Fitz and our great friend, Chef and professional forager Iulian Fortu. We hope to open the space this Winter as a wine bar and small restaurant with wines and ciders made, under Sam’s direction, by ANXO Cider, paired with plates from Chef Iulian that will feature foraged and farmed ingredients of exceptional quality, with a focus on local and transparent sourcing.

As an interior designer I am excited to create an iconic space for the neighborhood I call home. We will have 20 seats and hope to provide an exceptional bar and dining experience for those that don’t want to head downtown.
“Poplar” will be the name for 701 Kennedy, inspired by the Tulip Poplars of Rock Creek Park. For more info on our name, opening timeline, and project details please follow us on Instagram @PoplarKennedy or add yourself to our mailing list by visiting www.PoplarKennedy.com.

And if you’re really excited, stop by Brightwood Pizza (711 Kennedy St NW) this Saturday the 14th from 5-7pm to chat with us and enjoy some incredible foraged mushroom paella from Chef Iulian!”
And while we wait for the opening, here’s a sneak peek inside:

STAY TUNED.
