“Dear PoPville,
Chase Bank in Cleveland Park has a sign on the front door indicating restricted hours for access to the ATM vestibule – mostly to coincide with bank hours. They are closed Sunday and at night. The vestibule is separated from the rest of the bank by a metal grate.
I asked bank staff why this was the case. I was told it is a “temporary security measure” in all Chase branches in DC.
I have heard some other banks might be limiting access to ATMs within their building. I heard informally that the decision relates to liability concerns for the bank because of unhoused people in the vestibules.”
