From an email:
“Perry’s (1811 Columbia Road, NW), the Japanese restaurant and rooftop in Adams Morgan is raising money for Taru, a 16-month-old toddler battling Dilated Cardiomyopathy, a rare heart condition that impacts 1 out of every 100,000 children. To support Taru and his family, their friend James Beard Finalist Chef Masako Morishita and Cold Fire Lab, a fermentation lab specializing in filamentous microfungi, are collaborating on a special Tempeh Teriyaki Burger.
The $16 meat-free burger features organic mung bean tempeh from Cold Fire Lab, tamari, zucchini, pickles, garlic, aioli, togarashi, and shredded lettuce on a sesame roll. The specialty burger’s proceeds are donated to Taru’s family to support his recovery from his recent heart transplant.
You can find more information on Taru’s condition and donate through his family’s GoFundMe page. Guests can order the burger now through the end of May.
Perry’s is located at 1811 Columbia Road, NW.”
